Conservation Officer Harold Kodila nursed the bird back to health and, just prior to releasing the eagle brought him to show him to the pupils of the local schools, The following are stories written by pupils at St. Martin's School concerning their impressions of the bird's visit to their school: A golden eagle is a very nice bird. It can travel 120 miles per hour to pick up a rabbit. A golden eagle can grow to three feet in height. Each wing can spread out three feet. Both of them are seven feet altogether. It likes to eat raw meat. It is found in the western United States. It is a dark brown bird with lighter markings on the wingtips. It is able to soar higher and faster than the bald eagle. It prefers to eat ground squirrels, jack rabbits and antelopes. = Danny Fournier, Grade 5. The golden eagle is found in Northern Ontario and western Canada. It makes its nest in a tree on a rocky cliff. The next is made of sticks. The mother eagle picks the little soft feathers and puts them on the nest. When the eagle is catching his prey he sometimes groundhogs and other small mammals. The golden eagle has gold feathers on his head and the rest of him is brown. His talons are yellow and powerful ., They are about four inches long. It has three toes in the front and one in the back. The eagle can turn his head right around. It can see three miles away.
