By-law 253, being a by-law to authorize signing of the annual lease with Kimberly-Clark of Canada, for the Recreation Centre, was passed. Council will proceed with the installation of the new ice making machines. The Road Superintendant will be asked to have the yellow line removed from Simcoe Plaza. As a replacement for Mrs. |. Ferrier as a member of the Board of Management of Pinewood Court, Council will recommend the appointment of W.E. Cavanaugh. Council will insert a notice in the Terrace Bay News with respect to the requirements of the Build- ing By-Law in obtaining building permits. Council will proceed with the formation of an Advisory Planning Committee. RECREATION NEWS Swim Awards Night Changed to September 1st: Due to the Royal Life Saving tests that will be conducted on Thursday, August 21st, the Swim Awards Night has now been changed to Friday evening, September Ist. The Awards Night will get underway at 6:30 p.m. sharp in the Curling Lounge of the Recreation Cen= tre. The awards will be presented to those who placed in the local swim meet. Badges and cards will also be presented to those who successfully com- pleted their swim tests. The highlight of the éven- ing will be the presentation of the Duriez Trophy. During the entire summer, the swim staff have been considering swimmers to receive this award. The decision has been made and announcement of the winner will take place this Friday.
