Vol. 15 No. 34 August 23, 1972 15¢ Per Copy CAR LICENCE PLATES OF YOUR CHOICE The Honourable Gordon Carton, Q.C., Minister of Transportation and Communications, announced that it will now be possible for Ontario motorists to obtain multi-year passenger car licence plates with the three letters and three numbers of their own choice. Starting immediately, the Ministry will accept on a first come, first served basis, requests for special number plates for passenger cars and station wagons. Requests should be mailed as soon as possible to the Special Plate Office, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Macdonald Block, Queen's Park, Toronto 182. The fee for issuing each set of "own choice" plates will be $25 over and above any other fees pay- able and must accompany any request for the special licence plates. If the number is available, a receipt will be returned along with instructions outlining the proper procedures to apply for the 1973 registration. If the number requested has been previously allo- cated or is otherwise not available, the fee will be returned. In making the annoncement, Mr. Carton said, "Every effort will be made to fill all requests receiv= | ed for the Yown choice" plates, but there will, of course, be certain combinations of letters that will not be made available out of respect for good taste and the letters G, | and Q will not be used." HOSPITAL BOARD HONOURS JOHN FERRIER The McCausland Hospital Board of Governors re- cently held a luncheon in the Terrace Bay Motor Hotel to honour past Chairman, John Ferrier, for his many years of dedicated service. Mr. Ferrier served on the Board of Terrace Bay Private Hospital for many years and more recently as Chairman of the public hospital Board. In addition to the present Board members, Dr. M. McCausland and Mae Macleod were invited to attend this special occasion. Frank Anderson, President of the Board, presented John with a walnut plaque in recognition of the time and effort given to the hospital during the past years. Dr. McCausland recalled some of the experiences they had shared and Mr. Ferrier thanked the Board for the plaque and the opportunity to work with Board Members, Physicians and Staff. Photos of the occasion were taken by Thor Olsen and presented to Mr. Ferrier. LABOUR UNIONS TO SPONSOR LABOUR DAY PROGRAM Local 665 i1.B.P.S. and PM W'S and 1861 I.B.E.W. will sponsor a Labour Day Program on Monday, September 4th. A "Field Day" Sports pro- gram will be held at the Moose Hall beginning at 10 a.m. with treats for children fourteen and under. Treat tickets will be distributed during the week. The Labour Day Dance will be held in the Terrace Bay Areana on Monday night. Music will be supplied by the Thunder Bay Orchestra "4'S Company".
