Bell Increases = cont'd from page 1 ...... An increase from $9.00 to $11.00 in the service charge for residential installations is among a variety of service charge increases. Various increases for inter-exchange and data services including TWX Message rates and rental charges to TWX Teletypes and other equipment. Long Distance charges on calls to which the Ontario-Quebec schedule apply will also go up slightly as a result of the C.T.C. decision. One cent will be added to the initial minute of customer- dialed calls, and the rate for the initial three minut=- es of station to station operator-handled calls for distances up to 30 miles will go up by five cents. Overtime minutes on all long distance calls will cost an extra one cent per minute, and a 10 cent minimum will be established on all long distance calls. The long distance increases are being applied on the "Discount" rate schedule introduced last Nov. 28. The schedule was for a six month extendabe trial to allow the Company to asses its impact on revenue and calling patterns. The trial was recently extended to November 1972. The new increase applies to regular day rates; however, if a call is eligible for a discount then the increase will also be discounted. For example, cus- tomer-dialed calls between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sundays are discounted by three-quarters. Thus a one cent increase on these calls would receive a three-quarters discount and would amount to only one-quarter cent on each minute.
