It was decided that if eight or more players are interested this season four teams will be formed. If there are less than eighty there will be three teams as before . Notices will be posted and any player wanting to play this year must sign no later than May 12th. Fred McColeman, Norman Boon, and Robin Moore were appointed as a committee fo look after tournament funds. Weather permitting the season will begin no later than May 21st. The executive will be incharge of arrangements for a dance being held in the Schreiber high school on Friday, May 19 fo raise funds and it is hoped the public will generously support this. COMMITTEE APPOINTED FOR SCHOOL OPENING The Rev. Rex Dye and Mrs. Robert Ellicott were named as a committee to work with the public school staff in arranging the program for the official open- ing of the addition to the public school on June 8, at the regular May meeting of the school's Home and School Association. Members who were on the board when the addition was planned will be guests at the occasion. It was decided to cancel the proposed Penny Auction. Final plans were completed for the Fashion Show being held in the high school in Schreiber. Mrs. Rex Dye presided for the meeting, with min- utes and financial statement accepted as read by Mrs. Aletha Morris and Mrs. Shirley Brown. Following the meeting the teachers challenged the parents to a game of volley ball, the players making up in enthusiasm what they may have lacked in skill. U.C.W.CHANGE DATE OF PENNY AUCTION The United Church Women, at their regular meet- ing on May 3, changed the date of their penny auc- tion to May 19 due to conflicting dates with another organization. The event will be held in the church hall. Mrs. Helen Sharpe, president of the United Church Women Presbyterial, sent word she hoped to attend the June meeting, bringing along a group, who will present a program. This meeting, the last before summer recess, will begin with a potluck dinner, for which arrangements will be made by Mesdames Bill Thrower, W.T. Wallace, Wesley Clemens, Walter Dukes and Tommy Whent. Word was received that a representative of the Canadian Bible Society will be in town on May 16 to speak at a meeting in the Anglican Church hall. Plans were made to serve the C .G .l.T. mother and daughter dinner on May 22nd. Mrs. Russell Macadam urged members to attend the membership tea being held in Terrace Bay to form an auxiliary for the McCausland Hospital . Mrs. E.C. Prinselaar presided for the meeting with the minutes and financial report accepted as read by Mrs. Tommy Whent and Mrs. Bill Thrower. Following the meeting Mrs. Earl Glad showed slides taken during a holiday in Mexico, with a most interesting commentary. Lunch was served by Mrs. Prinselaar and Mrs. John Spillane. TOWN TOPICS Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kirkpatrick and their daughter Shelby have returned from a trip to New York where Mr. Kirkpatrick was attending a convention of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. Mrs. George Legault of Montreal is here visiting her mother and father who is in a Lakehead Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Whent of Winnipeg are visiting Mrs. T.P. Whent and also Mr. Whent who is in a Lakehead Hospital . Mrs. Barbara Strasser took over as librarian during Mrs. Kirkpatrick's absence. Mrs. M.J. McGrath president of the Schreiber league, Father F.J. Meyer and Mrs. D'Arcy McGuire and other members are attending the con- vention of the Catholic Women's League being held in Atikokan this week. A very happy family gathering was held in the home of Mrs. Ernie O'Connor last week when those visiting her included Mrs. Agnes Gerow, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gerow, Mrs. Mabel Jamieon, Thunder Bay and Mrs. J. Jamieson and daughter Catherine Lynn of Toronto. ADVICE ON CHEST FREEZERS Consumers' Association of Canada advises that lid construction is important in chest freezers. A good lid will be capable of a slight twist to ensure an effective seal even if a package is left projecting above the top line. Check for this feature when you shop for a freezer.
