Reeve Cavanaugh received a letter of thanks from the Girl Scout Council of St. Croix, St. Paul, Minn. for courtesies extended to them when they were in this area last summer, to make preliminary arrange-- ment for a rendevous for approximately 84 young U.S.A. and Canadian Scouts and Rangers in Terrgce Bay next July. A copy of a letter to the Hon. Irwin Haskett,. from Jack Stokes, M.P.P., was read, regarding the prob lem of having no Drivers testing in Terrace Bay. A letter was sent to Jack Brooks of the Library Board and Frank Anderson, of the Recreation Committ ee, requesting them to advise of a suitable date for the annual dinner and social evening, tendered the members of each of the boards. Councillor Al Allen announced with regret that he would not again run for office, on the new Coundil, due to the pressure of other commitments. He ex- pressed his pleasure at having been associated with the Reeve and other councillors over the past year, and wished them well in the coming year. The Reeve responded by thanking Mr. Allen for his faith- fulness in attendance and a good job he's done. Councillor Bray announced that three Crossing Guards had been hired to see children safely across the highway. They are Mr. Jack Yates, Mrs. Betty Oksanen and Miss Catherine Ginn. Tenders were opened for the Utility shed as advertised, and the bid submitted by P.M. Dozois in the amount of $27.55 was accepted. The police report read as follows: Three car accidents investigated, two of minor nature, one with two people injured, one driver charged. One lost hunter was located in the bush. One call to the local theatre to eject two teenage boys. Three persons charged under the Liquor Control Act, each fined $12.50. Three cases of break, enter and theft during the night. Several windows broken in South Camp. Three bowling balls stolen from Recreation Centre - one recovered. Two dances at the High School were attended - the first was found to be rowdy and having liquor around, the second, under different supervision, found everyone well behaved. The Chief voiced a special vote of thanks to the Motorcycle Brigade who toured the town on Hallow- een, and apparently kept vandalism to a minimum.
