PAGE 8 TERRACE BAY NEWS AUGUST 13, 1970 RECREATION BRIEFS - By Jerry Dupas NORTH SHORE SWIM MEET THIS SATURDAY Terrace Bay swimmers will be travelling to Red Rock this Saturday to compete in the Annual North Shore Swim Meet. The meet will begin at 1:00 p.m. and end around 5:00 p.m. Unfortunately, there will be no room for spectators as the only bus available for that day would be large enough to accommodate the swimmers only. We wish the best of luck to our local swimmers in their competitions this weekend. Results of how the Terrace Bay swimmers place will be posted in the next week's News. OPEN SWIM CANCELLED THIS SATURDAY Since our entire Pool Staff will have to travel with the swim team to Red Rock, we are forced to cancel the Open Swim for Saturday afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Open Swim will resume its normal sched= ule at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday evening. PLAYGROUND PROGRAMME ENDS THIS FRIDAY A reminder to all boys and girls that Playground Programme '70 finishes this Friday, August 14th. Be sure to take advantage of the activities offered fo you. Attendance figures for this year indicate that the type of programme offered has met with great success and therefore will be attempted again next year, with perhaps some new ideas and concepts. Our department would like to thank the Playground staff and volunteers for doing such a worthwhile job with the programme this summer. REPRESENTATIVE FASTBALL GAMES Ai the time of this writing, confirmation has not yet been received from Red Rock relative to their National and Pony Leagues coming to Terrace Bay for two games. We are hopeful that during this week our | Nationals will be able to play their 3rd and 4th games against Red Rock and that our Pony League will have their first encounter of the year against the Red Rock Pony league. 3 If you are interested in watching our boys in action be sure to keep your eye open for posters at the Recreation Centre and shopping plaza. INTEREST IN GIRLS" LACROSSE Recently, there has been an indication of interest from some girls to provide casual Lacrosse sessions at the Arena. We are hopeful we can commence these sessions this Thursday, August 13th, at 6:30 p.m. These sessions are open to girls 13 years of age and under. All girls must wear proper equipment for all the sessions. BOYS' LACROSSE It appears that interest for boys' Lacrosse, 10 to 12 years of age, has been decreasing. We hope that during the month of September these will be a change in attendance. Attendance for Senior boys' sessions has been very favourable and the Recreation Office is now in the process of trying to arrange some exhibi- tion games during the month of August. ROLLER SKATING SESSIONS CONTINUE A reminder that Roller Skating sessions continue every Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Arena.
