MAY 14, 1970 TERRACE BAY HOSTS BADMINTON TOURNAMENT The Terrace Bay Badminton Club hosted the" North Shore Badminton Association Tournament on the weekend of April 25th and 26th, in the Terrace Bay High School Auditorium. Keen competion was displayed during the two day meet, with each club being well represented. Participants enjoyed a buffet supper in the Curling Club Lounge Saturday evening, followed by dancing to the music of Sax Lundberg. Finals were played on Sunday with the following results: - Men's Singles Winner - Dave Carnochan, Manitouwadge; runner-up - Ken Ward, Manitouwadge Consolation winner - Richard Chahley - Red Rock; runners-up - Seppo Peukkurenen, Terrace Bay. Ladies Singles winner - Marion Ward, Manitou~ wadge; runner-up - Jessie Paley - Red Rock; Conso- lation winner -- Muriet Watkins, Manitouwadge; runner-up - Linda Ballentine - Terrace Bay. Men's Doubles: - Winners: Ken Ward and Dave Carnochan, Manitouwadge; runners-up: John Petrik and Richard Chahley, Red Rock; Consolation: Larry Bertin and Fred Ganzon, Marathon; runners-up: Lionel Waghorn and Ed McAdam, Terrace Bay. Ladies Doubles Winners: - Marion Ward and Muriel Watkins, Manitouwadge; runners-up: Jessie Paley, Red Rock and Alice Ganzon, Marathon; Consolation: Linda Ballentine and Sharon Teskey, Terrace Bay; runners-up: Pam Jones and Julie Sammann, Terrace Bay. Mixed Doubles Winners: - Jessie Paley and John Petrik, Red Rock, runners-up: Marion and Ken Ward, Manitouwadge; consolation: Alice and Fred Ganzon, Marathon; runners-up: Linda Ballentine and Don McMillan, Terrace Bay. The Manitouwadge Badminton Club was awarded the Little Long Lac Trophy again this season for the highest points scored in the tournament.
