HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION FORMED Parents and others interested met in the public _school to organize a Home and School Association, with the following slate of officers elected: Mrs. Ralph Morrill, president; Mrs. Dorothy Lengyel vice-presidentMrs. John Spillane, secretary; Mrs. C. Pyke, treasurer; standing committee chairmen: Mrs. Robert Ellacott, membership; Mrs. E.C. Prin- selaar, agenda; Mr . Douglas Reynolds, grievance; and Mrs. Earl Glad. Dues were set at $1.00. Meetings will be held on the first Thursday of each month, at 8 p.m..-in the school - the next on November 6th. Prior to meetings parents may visit teachers for half an hour and the teachers will sit in on the meetings. The Home and School has long been wanted in the school and good representation was present to indicate their satisfaction and interest. O'Brien, Superintendant of Education, Lakehead District Catholic School Board, was the guest speaker at the October meeting of the Senrerhe GAP. A' Mr. O'Brien was introduced by Joseph Wills, pres- ident, and thanked by Sister St. Timothy, the schoo principal . In part Mr. O'Brien, referred to his former associ- ation with the school as an area superintendant and pleasant memories of visits in Schreiber. The future of the CPTA is an urgent matter, with both self-examination and a re-vitilization necessary 4 with the rapid and extensive changes in education drastically and significantly reshaping our education- al system. Parents and educators alike are trying to assimilate the new mathematics, the non-graded or continuous progress education, outdoor education, family life education, 'the Leaves Perciencs approach to reli gious education. In the last decade, the birth of these new elements has been accompanied by other significant changes such as the introduction and decline of the Robarts Plan for secondary schools, - cont'd page 15
