PAGE 10 SURPLUS FUNDS TOPIC OF MEETING The New Democratic Party Thunder Bay Riding Association held a meeting September 7th, in the Geraldton Legion. Rev. E.C. Prinselaar, President of the Association, chaired the meeting, Attending was Jack Stokes, M.L. A. of the Riding and mem- bers from Geraldton, Nakina, Longlac, Schreiber, Marathon and Nipigon. While discussing various facts of interest the matter of surplus funds of P.S.1. was brought to the floor. - With the introduction of O.H.S.1.P. in the Province of Ontario, P.S.1. will be disbanded. P.S.1. has a reported surplus of considerable. size. A motion was passed that a directive be sent to the Ontario Provincial Office requesting that they endeavour to obtain disposition of the excess funds as follows: - 1. That the sum be applied to various Medical Research Foundations.. 2. That Student Bursaries be set up to help provide for the education of students studying medicine, who are in need of help, and who will volunteer to serve in areas of the North. 3. The possibility of establishing and maintaining a Flying Doctor Service in the North be studied, : The New Democratic Party Association issues an invitation to the public to submit their opinions and suggestions to our M.L.A., Jack Stokes, Queens Park, Toronto. SCHREIBER DETACHMENT PRESS RELEASE Investigations over the past week included - one Liquor Control Act investigation which resulted in one charge being laid; one report of trespassing , which after investigation was learned to be unfound- ed; two charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act and thirteen warnings were issued for minor infractions and defective equipment. On the Traffic Scene, there were three property damage accidents which resulted in #2,000.00 damage. There was also one collision which resulted in injuries being sustained by one subject, and damage approximated at $2,400.00. Highways and other roads patrolled in miles amount ed to 3,088 miles and 240 Duty hours were totalled.
