JULY 30, 1969 INTERMENT IN TERRACE BAY CEMETERY Funeral services for Mr. Roland Scowen, aged 61 who passed away en route home from a Toronto Hospital, on Sunday July 20, were held in the Terrace Bay Community Church on Wednesday after- noon, at two o'clock, with Reverend T.G. Husser officiating. Mr. Scowen had been employed by Kimberly Clark since 1946. Previous to this he worked in Noranda Quebec. Pall bearers were all past Masters of the Lodge, Ted Brown, E. Young, C. Buck, J. Duncan, K. Weppler, and H. Coe. Ushers were W. Slomke and T. Scott. At night a social and dance arranged by tournament chairman Rafalant and his committee was held on the patio when an orchestra provided music for dancing. Sunday's play started about 9 a.m. and when the last foursome turned in their cards about 4.30 p.m. and members of the ladies club totalled up the strokes it was found that Peter Balon of Thunder Bay was the winner of first prize, with his low gross of 149. Guy Cupples of Thunder Bay was runner up with a close 150 and Coke Campbell, former Aguasabon player but now of Toronto, took first prize with a net of 139 for the 36 holes. John Felewich of Red Rock was runner up with a net of 140. Low gross prize for the first eighteen holes played on Saturday went to Dennis Halabecki who tallied 74 and second prize went to Al Clark who also had 74. On the second eighteen (Sunday's play) Gordon Pattison of St. Boniface won first prize with his low net of 69 and Chas. Koski and Jack Wellings wit! identical scores took 2nd prizes.
