This is the 150th. anniversary of the Order, the 115th of it's founding in Ontario, and the 50th of the Schreiber Lodge, whose charter members were F. Hugli, J.A. Boon, G.A. Evans, J.A. Shaw , Charles A. Clark, Eno, G. Turnbull, and H.S. Weary . Mr. and Mrs. Mark Doig of Trenton visited their son Peter and his family over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Reid of Espanola visited wit Mr. and Mrs. Norman McCuaig last week. Mrs. Morris Lavoy of Marathon visited Mrs. Jim Armstrong last week. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. George Walsh over the weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy McDonald and their two daughters, of Dowling, Ont., Mrs. John Kelly, Miss Mary Fran' Kelly and Charles Wesley, of Marathon. A matinee was alsc conducted on Thursday, the 24th, for pupils and teachers of Schreiber Public School and Holy Angel's Separate Schools - The programme opened with the Master of Ceremon ies Paul Caccamo introducing the folk group selection "Bottle of Wine" and "Love is All Around Me" sung by the Grade 13 class and backed by a very effective cafe setting which put the audience in a relaxed mood. They in turn hailed Bruce Gray and Nola vocal duet "Reason to Believe." This was closely followed by Ryan LeBlanc on another guitar joining Bruce in two numbers "If | Could" and "I'm Not Say- ing." Allan LeBlanc wound up the cafe scene with a most unusual and impressive drum solo. Mr. Penner described the various vaults and pres~ entations of the breath taking gymnastic display featuring Claire Belliveau, Bill Collinson, Tony Commisso, Albert Coutemanche, Toni Desaulniers, Bob Hiller, Katie Kastelik, Mike Spadoni, Stanley Spadoni and Barb Stefurak . Taese demanding dem- onstrations were followed by a skilful. rendition at a slightly slower pace ~ the artful piano duet "In the Arena" by Billy and Wendy Weaver. The choir, led by Miss Chisholm and made up of Linda Birch, Janice Cluett, Marilyn Cook, Nola Fummerton, Carolyn Glad, Beverley Hamilton, Susan Harrison, Brenda Krystia, Marta Krystia, Rose~ mary Speziale, Sharon Smith, Cathy Stokes; and Shirley Winters next sang two well-known selections "Ealling in Love" and "Old Man River." A new feature has been added to the high school this year and the audience of "Variety Night" were treated to numerous hair raising and impressive dem- onstrations of self defence involving judo and karate |. led by Mr. Gouthro' (also the general director of "Variety Night") and performed by the self defence team of Laura Bittolo, Verna Daley, Elizabeth Hayes Rosemary McParland, Linda Nesbitt, Cathy Stokes, David Borutski, Lonnie Connelly, Dave Drake, Bill Gellert, Herb Holmes, Joseph Maronese, and Tom McGrath. - continued on pagel4
