MA 969 COMMI SSO FI GLIOMENI NUPTIALS Daffodils and white carnations adorned . the, altar in doly Angels Roman Catholic Church, Schreiber, for the wedding ceremony on Satur- day, April 19, at 2 p.m. when Catharine Figliomeni, daughter ' of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Figliomeni of Schreiber, became the bride! of Vincenzo Commisso also of Schreiber. The double ring ceremony was solemnized by Very Rev. J. M. Cano. Soloist Giovanni .Cebrario, was accompanied by organist Brenda Lalonde. : The bride was escorted up "the aisle by her parents, and was wearing a formal gown of satin corde fashioned with basque bod- ice and cireular skirt. An over- lay of lace trimmed. the front bodice which dipped to a V at front. of the corded waistline, and was designed with Sabrina neckline, aad long sleeves but- toned at the wrists. Wide bands of the same lace extended down the sides to the hem of the full skirt, worn over a taffeta crino- line and was further enhanced by scattered lace medallions. A hand of. iace accented the panel _ 'rain falling from the shoulders where it was held bv a lace medallion. A brilliant crown caught her scalloped tierred veil of illusion tulle and she carrie¢ a semi-cascade of white carna- tions and yellow roses. FIVE ATTENDATS The matron of honor was Mrs. Antonio Commisso of Schreiber, and bridesmaids were Mrs. Joe Commisso Schreiber. and: Mrs. Tony Figliomeni Toronto, aunt of the bride. The flower girl was Rosemary Commisso, and Gesi Commisso, nephew of the groom. was ring bearer. The senior attendants wore similarly styled slim line crepe gowns, the matron of honor in jade green, the bridesmaids in maize. Their bodices were fash- ioned of matching lace, the em- pire waistlines accented by nar. row bands and bows of crepe An inset mushroom pleated band of crepe outlined the deeply rounded necklines, and the thre: quarter lace sleeves were gath- ered above the elbows and fin- ished in deep frills. They wore brijliant tiaras. and each car- ried a single white mum. The flower girl's dress was of similar style in mint green. She wore a tiara and carried a nose- gay of white mums. The best man was the groom's brother, Antonio Commisso of Schreiber, and groomsmen were Joe Commisso Schreiber, and Tony Figiiomeni of Toronto. Dominic and Michael Figliomeni, brothers of the bride, ushered. Following the ceremony a din- ner reception was held in the Mocse Hall, Terrace Bay, when a toast to the bride was given. by the best man. A wedding dance was held in the evening. The bride's mother received guests in a blue lace suit-dress, white hat, beige accessories. : anc corsage of red roses. Mrs. Vincenzo Commisso of Toronto. aunt of the groom who received for him, was wearing a navy summer suit, white hat and ac- cessories, and corsage of white roses. For a trip to Toronto. the bride was entertained at a show- er in the Guild Hall arranged by Mrs. Tony Commisso and Mrs. Joe Commisso. Bill Jones gave a report on the Bursary fund sgying a bake sale to raise funds is planned for April 28 in Chapples Store. Mrs. Mavis Slater, the convener, thanked those who had worked and contributed to the recent Spring tea, a most successful event. Miss Dorothy Sly, of Edmonton, still a member of Schreiber Lodge, wrote of her forthcoming marriage. Thank you notes were read, and Mrs. C. Morris reported sending fruit, flowers, and cards to sick members. Mrs. Norma Funnerton,N.G. and Mrs. Christine Morris, V.G. presided for the meeting. Paving - Highway 17 from Nipigon easterly. THUNDER BAY TUBERCULOSIS ASSOCIATION ' The East Thunder Bay Tuberculosis Association held its regular meeting in the home of W.G. Furlonger, the executive secretary on April. 13. Correspondence included a letter from Mrs. D. Welykie, of the district Sanitorium, thanking the E.T.B.1TB.A. for Christmas gifts sent to patients. E.J.O'Brien, Director, wrote from Toronto, re- garding the annual meeting of the Ontario Tubercu- losis and Respiratory Association annual meeting be- ing held in Toronto on May 10. Mrs. Lester McCuaig, Mrs. Karl Kazmierezak, and Mrs. Bill Carmody (Nipigon) were named as delegates with Mrs. Norma McCuaig and Mrs. Furlonger as alter- nates. The local annual meeting was set for June first, with Mr. O'Brien and Dr. Sturgeon of Toronto to be invited as special guests. Mr . F urlonger gave a report on the semi-annual cont'd page 13 ea INVITATIONS EXTENDED RUBY REBEKAH Ruby Rebekah Lodge at their regular meeting re- ceived an invitation from Algoma Lodge, |.0.O.F. #267, to attend the 150 anniversary celebration of Oddfellowship, the event being held in the Royal Edward Hotel, Fort William. Another invitation re- ceived from Agate Lodge, Rebekah, to attend their Spring tea on May 14. Initiation will take place on June 11 and all mem- bers of the degree team are urged to attend the pra- ctice following the next regular meeting. Mrs. Eva Bailey of Greenstone Lodge, Fort William a former Schreiber lodge member, was welcomed as a guest.
