APRIL 24, 1969 TERRACE BAY NEWS PARTY HELD FOR RE- TIRED PEOPLE The C.G.1.T. Group of the Community Church, Terrace Bay sponsored an Unbirthday Birthday Party for the Retired People in town, in the form of a Supper at the Church Sunday ev~- ening. The tables were beau- tifully decorated with Spring flowers made by ; the girls and a spirit 4 of gayety invaded the ' evening. Fourteen retired persons were the special guests. After dinner, every- one joined in asing song led by Mrs. Gertrude . Soughton, accompanied by Mrs. Marg Simmer at the piano. Louise Brooks read a story, with audience partici- pation, in the form of making various sounds to represent the characters. Schreiber walkers are wel- come to start with the Terrace Bay people or start from St.Andrew's Church at 1:30. In case of rain the event will be postponed till May 3rd. It is to be un- derstood that walkers travel entirely at their own risk and the Church is not responsible for any mishaps that! may occur. MOTHER'S DAY -- IN THE moose hall may ie 1969 C.G.1.T. PLAN WALKATHON It is very re warding to learn of the keen interest in the walk, not only in Terrace Bay but also in Schreiber and Rossport. Some young boys have al- ready completed a practice walk from Schreiber to Rossport. The original goal of the Walkathon was to give assistance to the Lakehead Department of Social Services, serving all denominations and also those -with no Church affiliation. With the number of in- terested walkers, the Mission to the Lepers and other worthwhile causes will be included, according to the amount of funds raised. All walkers must register be= fore commencing to walk, producing written per- mission from the parents, if a child and receive a form tobe signed at each check point, approximately' every two miles. This is the proof of the number of miles walked. The walk starts at 10 a.m., Saturday morning April 26th, from Terrace Bay Recreation Centre.
