Mr, and Mrs. Bill Stefurak spent Christmas with relatives in Fort William. Johnny MacKnowd, well- known trainman, was recently injured and taken by ambu- lance to McKellar Hospital. He resides in Fort William. Mrs. Orville Sainsbury and Charlie Nesbitt were recently taken to Terrace Bay Hospital by ambulance. : Mr. and Mrs. Tom McCuaig and Cammy of Fort William were recent house guests of the A. B. Christmas, vacation. RE COUNCIL MEETING Ontario Provincial Police will take over the policing of Schrei- ber on a permanent basis, the town council was told at its re- gular December meeting. The financial statement of Schreiber Minor Hockey Asso- ciation for 1967 was received for consideration and a donation was made to Schreiber High School year book. Water bills totalling $75.09 and general accounts of $882.22 were passed for payment. Councillor Harold Fischer re- ported that building permits. to- talling $61,350 had been issued fn a period from Jan. 1 to Nov. 30. This amount does not include a recently constructed garage restaurant complex valued at $150,000, he said. The Ontario Water Resources Commission proposal regarding sewage service in Schreiber was held over for further study and comparison with similar serv- ices. \ It was suggested by CPR that the town's water supply be taken over by the town. This will be studied further: Council voted in favor of pay- ing E. Borutski $50 per month, effective July 1, to supervise and clean the town ambulance.
