TERRACE James M. Moler, Charles Town, West Virginia, president of Kiwanis International (right), presented a gold desk top cigarette lighter to the Right Honourable Lester B. Pearson, Prime Minister of Canada, in the Prime Minister's office in Ottawa, August 28. The lighter represented Kiwanis' appreciation to the people of Canada and their leaders for the support which they have given Kiwanis during the past 50 years. Canadian Kiwanis clubs are concluding a year long celebration observing the 50th anniversary of the founding of the first Canadian Kiwanis club -- Hamilton, Ontario -- on November 15, 1916. Word of Moler's visit to the Prime Minister was received here by Don LaPorte, President of the Kiw- anis Club of Terrace Bay. : The Ontario Department of Lands & Forests reports that all prospective hunters who cannot produce either an old hunting licence or a Certificate of _Competence issued by a hunter safety instructor will be required to successfully complete written and practical examinations b efore qualifying for a licence. A certificate will be honoured until Dec- ember 31, 1967. One of the following requirements will be necessary before purchasing a hunting licence up to the end of 1967 - producing a previous licence for renewal or as proof of hunting experience; presentin g a cert- ificate issued by an examiner or presenting a Cert- ificate of Competence issued by a hunter safety training instructor. ; Applicants will be required to pay $3.00 examining fee paid prior to the exam. The fee is not refund- able in the case of the applicant failing. Any instructions deemed necessary by the applicant should be obtained prior to writing the examination. No - training will be given at the time of examination.
