TERRACE BAY NEWS ONTARTO PROVINCIAL POLICE WEEKLY REPORT Totel duty hours 264. Highways patrolled 3378 miles. Traffic - No accidents investigated or occurred during the week. A total of 7 charges were laid under the 0.H.T.A. Warn- ings were issued to 24 instances with a total of 51 vehicles given safety checks. One investigation was conducted in re- gard to an auto fire resulting in the vehicle being destroyed. One motorist was charged with impaired driving under provisio of the Criminal Code and will appear in Magistrates Court Sept 26, 1967. Investigations - 3 charges were laid under the Liq- uor Control Act. HUNTERS NOTE - May we ask your co-operation in exercising care in the use of your firearms. Be mindful of the fact that care f lessness or misuse of the property of others will result in th laying of charges against the offenders. Your co-operation is also asked in refraining from discharging firearms in areas where men are working. LEADERSHIP REQUIRED - Do youpossess any skills or talents that would enable you to instruct others? Do you feel you have leadership qualities that are lying dormant? In order to conduct programs of Recreation, we need leadership. | have many new ideas, however | need leadership to introduce them. At present, instructors are brought in from the Lakehead or other areas. This is costly and inconvenient for scheduling. Do we not have any of this talent right here in town? If you feel you can help with a skill or new ideas . please contact me at the Recreation Office or phone 3542 and | will be glad to discuss your idea with you. _ ARTS & CRAFTS - Classes will start Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Recreation Centre for children of ages 7 and over and run until Nov. 4. Classes will start at 10 a.m. and run until 12 noon. Instruction will be pro- vided by Mrs. Sadie Gaulin in drawing, painting and copper tooling, as well as other areas. Girls and boys are welcome and there will be a registration fee of $5.00 per person for 6 weeks, or $7.00 per family for six weeks to cover cost of materials. Registration deadline is Thursday September 28 and forms for reg- istration will be distributed to cromentary schools or call the Recreation Office. ROLLER SKATING- Commencing this coming Siridixy roller skating will be held in the afternoon from 2 to 4.30 instead of Sunday evenings. MINOR HOCKEY -Hockey registration forms will be distributed to the schools. High school students should pick up their registration forms at the Rec. Office. Registration fee is $1.00 to cover insurance and oper- ating costs. Forms are to be filled out and returned with $1.00 to the small meeting room Saturday, Sept. 23 between 10 a.m. and Noon. }INTERMEDIATE "A" HOCKEY - Efforts are being made to start a Northshore Intermediate Hockey Team. Proposed teams fo play are Terrace Bay, Schreiber, Nipigon, Red Rock and Marathon and perhaps Mani- ee touwadge. If you are interested in 1 playing and assist ing in the formation of this league, please attend a meeting in the small meeting room of the Rec. Centré Wednesday, September 27 at 8 p.m. ROCKHOUNDS CLUB - Interest has been expressed in several persons to form a Rock Club. Many people have their own collections and would like to meet with others having similar interests. Therefore, a meeting has been called for Thursday, September 28 at 7.30p.m. in the small meeting room of the Rec. Centre for interested people to get together. Plan to attend the meeting and compare collections. LOST CLOTHING - Anyone who lost articles of clothing etc. at the Swim Pool this year may look at the articles we have on hand by calling Recreation Office 3542. We have many items and if these are not picked up by September 29, they will be sent to a missionary home. ART CLUB On September 22, 23, 24 John Watson, well known Toronto artist will be in Terrace Bay to conduct a course in landscape painting. Mr. Watson is no stranger to Terrace Bay having conducted several courses here in the past. One may register by call- ing Mrs. J. Ferguson or at the regular art session on Thursday . SCHREIBER SCOUTS ATTEND CAMPOREE Twenty six scouts from Schreiber attended a Pic River Camporee along with scouts from neighbouring towns. Edgar LeBlanc , Schreiber's new scoutmaster was assisted by M. Cosgrove and W. Tremblay. Patrol leaders with Schreiber scouts were: Mike McGuire, Chuck Hill, Lawrence Madge and Doug Re ynolds. The Leaders were grateful to those who provided transportation for the boys. SCHREIB ER NEWS Mr. & Mrs. C. Nesbitt spent their holidays with relatives in Carleton Place and surrounding towns. Fra nk Driscoll is in McKellar Hospital, Fort Wil!- iam. Mr. & Mrs. Cliff Rileya visited last week with Mrs Martha Burton and Mrs. Wally Greenshields . Mr. & Mrs. W.T.
