March 9, 1967 CENTENNIAL CORNER Since the New Year, a re-organized Centennial Committee has been meeting regularly in an attempt to line up a reasonable program for our community. The committee is under the general chairmanship of Jim Cumming with Mrs. Margaret Simmer acting as Secretary. Mrs. Alma Marcella is Vice-Chai?- man. Town council is represented by Reeve Cavan- augh and Councillor Sinotte. Greg Chesley and Judy McInnes will provide liaison with local youth groups. Most local organizations have appointed representativies to the committee and |5 or 20 people attend each meeting. Sub-committees will handle various centennial projects. The work of the Centennial Park committed under Chairman A. Farrow, is well known. Mrs. Peggy Helmink has accepted chairmanship of a committee that is making arrangements to bring the Children's Theatre to Terrace Bay April I7. Every one should plan to see this exceptional show. Watch this column for further details. The Kiwanis Club has accepted the task of making arrangements for the Canoe Pageant in August. They will need the wholehearted support of all citizens. A decorating committee, under Chairman Dan Rafalant has ordered appropriate decorations for the town. There is considerable interest in centennial cost= umes and a number of ladies are busy at their sewing machines. We understand patterns are available from Chapples, Eatons and Simpsons. It is hoped that a large number of local citizens will wear costumes on the designated days. TERRACE BAY NEws ) A of h © King Features Syridicate, Inc., 1964. World rights reserved.
