Refreshments were served after the meeting closed. ~ Rossportites have come up with anoth er first when the Rossport Union Church Auxiliary opened their Centennial Library Saturday afternoon at 2.30. The library is situated in a spare room supplied by Mrs. Hattie Yandon in her home. Rev.Ed Prinselaar of Schreiber gave the opening address and cut the ribbon. Mrs. Joyce Yandon is Librar- ian and the Library hours are Wednes- day afternoon from 2 to 4.30 p.m. and Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Membership fees are Adults one dollar per year, children fourteen years and under 50 cents per year. There is a good supply of children's books and for adults there are histor- ical , mystery, romance, and non fiotion books. This successful Centenn ial project was made possible by dona- tions, the co-operation of many res- idents of Rossport and the Co-operative lending library. Len Ibey donated lumber for the shelves and Messrs .Tom Yandon and Herb Lif made them. Before this Rossport residents had to go to Schreiber for books. These ladies have produced a very worthwhile project that especially dur- ing winter months, Rossportites can look forward to time spent in pleasant and educational reading. ~ Mrs. Herb Lif was the March of Dimes, Chairman this year. Wayne Yandon celebrated his seventh birthday Saturday afternoon when his mother entertained his friends at a party. Following games and lunch a heart shaped birthday cake-was served to Wayne Yandon , Neomi Yandon, Cathy Gerow, Peter Gerow, Betsy McCormick and Grannie Yandon by Mrs. Yandon assisted by Mrs. Eugene Gerow. Wayne received some lovely gifts. ST. JOHN'S AMBULANCE MEETING A meeting of the Schreiber ambulance division was held Mendgy evening at 7 .30p.m. with Mrs.D.Rummery presid- ing. Prayers opened the meeting. Routine business was discussed and the 1967 budget approved. Vote of thanks to Schreiber people who supported a recent financial camp- aign was passed. Re-examination of the brigade will be held before the end of April forermdble members going to Expo to pass their examination before May |. Annual expection date was set by Provincial Headquarters as Thursday June 22 with Colonel H.L.Brown expection officer. Helen Jarvis, Corp. Staff Officer Thunder Bay Corp. was present and presented home nursing certificates to new members recently passing their examinations. Receiving these were: 1967 ' Mrs. Marion Prescott, Dorothy Hanson , Himes, Mrs, Glenora Harrison. A first aid class for C.G.1.T. members is in progress and will be finished about the " of February.
