Photo by |.McCuaig LEGION AUXILIARY MEETS Mrs. Jeanette Gunter presided for the regular meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Canadian Legion. Mrs.Nellie Gray reported arrangements were completed for the Poppy Day Tea. Mrs. Alexandria Jacques agreed to convene the Poppy Day Draw. Mrs. Dorothy Hewson reported for the nominating committee that several officers have yet to be secured and that elections will be held at the regular December meeting. Mrs.Lil MacDonald will convene a turkey draw for the end of November. The Christmas party for children eight years and under will be convened by Mrs.Earline Johnson. A joint installation of Legion and Auxiliary officers will be held at the Christmas Party on December 16. Mrs.Georgina Davis reported the Carl ing Shuffle- Board tournament should be completed by Nov.19. The donation from the Auxiliary to the Legion usually made at the November II Banquet will be presented instead at the joint installation party. Mrs.Nellie Grey will distribute tickets for the Portraits of the Past Fashion Show. A donation of $5 was made to the Veteran's Xmas Tree Fund in Winnipeg. Mrs.Betty Luke and Mrs.D.Hewson agreed to act as auditors. December hostesses will be Mesdames Inez Mc- Cuaig, Inez McKevitt, Vanita-McKenna and Alice McCouan. Photo by |.McCuaig UNITED CHURCH WOMEN PLAN BAZAAR Mrs. John Spillane presided for the November meeting of the United Church Women with twenty- one present. Rev. Prinselaar spoke prior to the meeting, his topic early and present day Christians. Mrs. Russell Macadam was in charge of the devotion- al period. Mrs. O.Niemi, sewing committee convenor, re- ported two quilts completed and sold and bazaar ar- ticles now being made. The sick and visiting con- venor, Mrs. Clemens, reported sending nine cards and flowers to a shut-in member. It was agreed to cater for the Legion Banquet on November 11th. Mrs. H.W.Gellert, with her din- ner committee, will be in charge. The Christmas Bazaar will be held December I9th with Mrs .Bill Gerow convening the Turkey Patty supper. Hostesses for the December meeting will be Mesd. David Nesbitt, Gary Drake, Bill Kenney, Lester McCuaig and Bill Gerow. Mr .and Mrs .Bill Mullins had the former's nephews and wives visit them last week:- Mr.and Mrs.Harold Mullins of Port Arthur and Mr.and Mrs.Terry Mullins of Chalk River. Miss Edna McColeman of the Sault, Michigan, visited her mother, Mrs.P.McColeman and brother Archie and family recently. Mr .and Mrs.Dwight Marshail of Fort William, who have been visiting their parents here have gone on to Sarnia to visit Mr.and Mrs.H.Prebeshewski. Mrs .Ross Hill, librarian, attended the Regional Library meeting in Fort William last week.
