Following adoption of the previous meeting's minutes, some unfinished business was dealt with-- the landscaping of Drew Avenue may have to be postponed again though Council promised that every effort would be made to complete the work. The two dairies delivering milk to the town feel that there is scarcely enough business here to warrant a four-day delivery, though the question of alterna- ting days of delivery will be taken up by the Head Office of both firms. A letter was read from the Board of Management for the District of Thunder Bay Home for the Aged, enquiring if the municipality would be participating in the raising of debentures; Council's reply re- ferred the Board to the resolution presented in June. A letter was then drafted to the Hon.Louis Cecile, referring to a request made earlier regarding the municipality's position in this matter. A service technician from the Double Diamond Bowling Co, installers of the automatic pinsetters, is expected to arrive in town soon to correct several operating faults that have arisen since the instal- lation. A motion was approved to install electric heating in a town-owned home to replace the furnace that exploded some weeks ago. Hydro Utility would bear the main costs. A recommendation was prepared for the next Council, regarding a new by-law to permit the levying of a portion of taxes before the estimates are approved. To taxpayers this means that they would pay their taxes in three installments instead of the present two. The Fire Department reported only one minor fire in the past month--on Hydro hill--which, it was be- lieved, was started by firecrackers.
