PORTE: peomrer '35-Trolley car August Il, 1966 THE PRESSE BLOOD DONOR CLINIC AUGUST 16TH We are living in one of the most eventful cen- turies since the beginning of time. Since 1900 we have seen the advent of motor cars, introduction of radio and television, speed greater than that of sound, jet air travel, shattering of the atom and now the almost commonplace travel in space. In no area have these scientific advances been more meaningful to us than those made in medicine and surgery. Not only are they increasing our life but they also bring relief to many conditions that were once untreatable. Diseases which in our youth were killers, diptheria, tuberculosis, diabetes, typhoid fever etc. have been tamed into submission. The knowledge gained through extensive research of blood and its components have enabled surgeons to undertake surgical and other procedures which were impossible at the beginning of the century. Many cases can be treated today because of the advances made by medical science and because of ily | Le | v2] a | =] 31) ACROSS 5-Spanish OOD OBUN Melt : plural article [aS] dS sla elSyStHio) Nee KF igteaee 0 SI5}c] [I 4-Imperfec- the air at e[ va) BE) tion 8-Atmospheric fal vol fS]Sla[2 {Si slals| 8-Box disturbance DwWES Elut BIBME) oa oer folal fala LINialslalald| 13-Biblica r weet 10- Beverage is] 3] [5] 14-Baked clay 11-Communist BEI Palo} 2fo]zs} Bae image ae (aS Niols|v[S|sHNJo[S] 1] 19.Moving part 20-Female ruff SF] 12 Sl] V] 2 Ololw of motor 23-Grabbing EVES 21-Cubic meter 25-State of 22-Falsehoods uncon- 24-Dress border sciousness SOLUTION 25-Christian 26- Mix Science 27-Equal 36-Organ of 44-Cease (abbr.) ee hearing 45-Uncouth per- 27-Gave 29-Saiior son 30- Speck (collog.) eae 46-Shade 31-Comfort 30-Deceased 47-Music: as 32-Swiss river 33-Denude 40-Slave written 33-Prefix: half 35-District in 41-Approach 51-Siberian 34-Bitter vetch Germany 43-Sitkworm river 37-Note of scale 38-Algonquian Indian 39-Challenge 40-N. It will be held at the Terrace Bay High School Auditorium from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. Registration, rest beds and refresh- ments are being looked after by Mrs .George Chor- ney. A stranger may one day donate blood that will save the life of one of your loved ones. Won't you do the same for him? Ge 4 KIWANIS FISH DERBY RULES CHANGED Two changes in the rules governing the Kiwanis Fish Derby have been announced. In the flyer delivered to every home last week one rule stated that fish entered would become the property of the committee. This was a misunderstanding. Fish can be picked up by the owners after weighing-in. Another rule mentioned in the flyer specified that witnesses to the catch were necessary. This rule applies for entrants for children's prizes only.
