QUEEN MERMAID BEAUTY CONTEST Terrace Bay, the Gem of the North Shore, noted far and wide for its natural scenic beauty, proves it can also offer beauty of a different sort--in the form of a Queen Mermaid Beauty Contest. The fond hope of each one of a number of young women, who must be single, is to be crowned Queen Mermaid of the Fall Festival. By entering this event the candidates form part of one of the major fund-raising features of the Festival The purchase of a ticket from any one of the Queen candidates helps them in their bid for the crown, ond assists the Festival financially. Queen contestants this year will come from Mani- touwadge, Terrace Bay and Schreiber. Contestants are judged from Wednesday, August 31st, to crowning time on Saturday, September 3rd, and according to th ree classifications: tickets or votes; personality; beauty. KIWANIS FETE QUEEN CANDIDATES Honoured at a recent Kiwanis dinner. held at Terrace Bay were the five young ladies who are competing for the title of "Queen Mermaid at the Fall Festival and Fish Derby which will take place September Ist through 5th. Accompanied by her campaign manager, Assistant Recreation Director Jerry Dupas, Miss Nicole Chartrand was present to represent Manhitouwadge. There were two contestants from Schreiber; Miss Rolande Beddard, sponsored by the Moose Lodge and the Kinsmen candidate, Miss Dominion Day, Sharon Riley. There were also two contestants from Terrace Bay; Miss Recreation Centre, Mary-Ellen Little and, representing Teen Town, Miss Judy McInnes. Their success in the (continued page 4)
