TERRACE BAY PITCHER SHUTS OUT MARATHON In a recent game played in Marathon, Terrace Bay's Page 5 Midget Fastball Team scored a convincing 8-0 shut out over their opponents. Behind the score was the strike-out pitching of Jim Mikus, Peter Heenan and Terry Black. This same team will complete in the first North Shore District Fastball Championships at Red Rock on Friday, July 22nd. Terrace Bay will be represented at the Red Rock by four teams--boys and girls Midget and Boys and Girls, Primary. A chartered bus will transport the teams to and from the Championship. FALL FESTIVAL PLANS NEAR COMPLETION Most of the plans for the First Fall Fair and Fish Derby to be held in Terrace Bay, September Ist to 5th are now in a definite stage of development. Some of the outstanding special attractions to appear during that weekend are:- Luigi's Accordion School from the Lakehead - The Marathon Boxing Club will pre- sent an exhibition of six bouts in various classes. Plans are underway to bring in a light heavyweight challenger from the Madison Boxing Club of Winnipe as the main event. The Lakehead Folk Arts Group which consists of performers from five ethnic races will appear on stage in their national dress in a pro- gram of song and dance. Among plans not yet confirmed is the possibility of Miss Canada paying a visit to Terrace Bay to open the Fair along with Bob Andras, M.P. Another tentative booking is "Junglerama" a touring circus from Wisconsin. Also, visitors to the Fair and Fish Derby may see the Great Gordi, famous magician and illusionist. Arrangements are also in hand for an open-air band concert to be held on the Ball Park on Sunday, Sept.4th.. On the same day there will be five Shetland ponies in town to give rides to the small fry, along with an exhibition of small livestock including chickens, calves and a rooster, most of whom are only familiar to local youngsters in books. The schedule for Sept. 1st through 5th will run as follows with probably some changes and alteration of order. Sept. 1 - official opening by Miss Canada and Bob Andras, M.P. 2 P.M. Festival Exhibits and Judging in Rec.Meetings Rooms. Special attrac tion in Arena - The Great Gordi. Doors open at 6.30 p.m. with exhibits, displays and concessions as side attractions.
