ROSSPORT NEWS Mr.and Mrs. Bill Hubelit have returned from holi- daying in Winnipeg and in Sheho, Sask. Attending the funeral of the late M.A.Nicol in Port Arthur were Mr.and Mrs.Wm.Schelling, Mr.and Mrs .T.Seppala and Mr.and Mrs.H.Legault. Mrs .Chas .Todesco has returned after supply teach- ing in Beardmore for two weeks. Rosportites learned that Darwin Dafoe, who left here just a month ago to work out of Toronto with a construction firm, was killed in a railway crossing accident at Pembroke last week. He was married to a former Rossport girl, Elaine Del Guidice, and also leaves two small children to mourn his loss. Winners at the weekly game of cards at the Five Hundred Club were Mrs.Mac Hubelit, Mrs.Gordon Rousseau and Mrs.Peter Testori. The hostess, Mrs. Albert Rouble, served refreshments. CURLING RINKS DRAWN UP & PLAYING Herbert Legault has finished making ice at the curling rink and a practice game was held Thursday evening. The draw committee have scheduled the following rinks for a round robin to decide winners of the Trophy and Championship:-, Skips, Thirds, Seconds and Leads are' named in that order .-- Dave Mushqush, Josephine Gerow, Hilda Mushqush, Inda Duncan - - Charlie Todesco, Albert Rouble, Ken Bowlier, Edith Ibey -- Camilla Legault, Herb. NEWS January 27, 1966 Mr.and Mrs. J.Spillett of Rossport pass the winter months making novelties for their sport shop. Ani- mals are molded in modelling clay, painted,then fitted into driftwood centrepieces. They also make boat, birchbark, stone and partridge tail feather novelties and Mrs.Spillett sews aprons, children's clothing and sells home baked goods. The members of St.Berchman's Altar Society held their January meeting Thursday evening at the presi- dent's home. Following opening exercises Mrs. Legault led the discussions on a lengthy agenda. Minutes were read by Mrs.Eugene Gerow as well as correspondence. Mrs.Felix Legault presented the financial statement. A Bingo is planned for Friday, January 28th in the community hall and members were urged to ob- tain prizes for same. It was decided to collect ar- ticles for a monster penny, auction to be held in the Spring. A three-way draw was decided on for the Easter project. First prize will be a three-tier decorated fruit cake, second prize a driftwood centrepiece and third will be a $5 voucher. Arrangements are to be made for making the tickets. The president announced that the organ needed repairing and someone has to be hired to take care of it--also that the table for the aisle was completed (See column 1)
