As a citizen | consider it an elabo- rate development with facilities and opportunities that any town would be proud to have. When completed the structure will surely emphasize the modernity and continuing progress of Terrace Bay. The installation and successful util- ization of the future extensive curri- culum will indeed be a milestone in our educational progress and will ac- centuate the commendable community interest and initiative that have characterized Terrace Bay since its beginning. As a taxpayer the estimated costs may seem, for a small town our size, somewhat questionable; however, when one considers the increasing impor- tance and urgency of education as demonstrated by the necessity of qualified training that industry today demands, we would be remiss in our obliga- tions and responsibilities to our children in not providing more adequate facilities and practical courses. As a parent the approved high school extension leaves me with mixed emotions. Excluding the current term we certainly cannot be proud of our school's past performance. However, despite the inefficiency and questionable standards of the past, | feel that the progress and excellent reports of the present term should encourage us to look ahead with assurance that we have passed the stage of our growing pains. --(séséiSiOd In closing | would venture to say that as parents we have been some- what selfish and presumptuous in leaving the education of our boys and girls entirely to the school.
