COUNCIL QUOTES Rev .Fraser Muldrew and Peter B.Speziale atten- ded the regular council meeting to present the Kins- men views on the hazard to children at the Costa Corner crossing. It was decided to appoint T. Whitton as school patrolman during the times of 8.30 to 9.00 a.m., 11.45 a.m. to 12.15, 1.00 to 1.30 p.m. and 3.45 to 4.15 p.m. at a rate of $2.50 per day. Protests on this condition were received from the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, Royal Canadian Legion and the Moose Lodge . Clerk-Treasurer R.C .Skinner advised Council that the waterworks account and the general account are not in good standing. It was decided to put the matter of delinquent fees for the YMCA re restaurant license and busi- ness tax, in the hands of the town solicitor. Council was notified that Edmund Borutski has re- placed Wayne Wilson as secretary-treasurer of the fire brigade. Dogs are again becoming a problem and an advertisement for a dog catcher will be placed. Further information will be sought before a water installation is made on Bayview Street. Word from the CPR regarding a rat problem was that the condi- tion will be investigated and council informed of result. Council replied to Ron Marquis that, since the trailer in question had not been disconnected from town facilities, no rebate could be made. Steve Petrushack's request for water installation received the reply that this could not be dealt with this year. Spadoni Bros. sent quotations on three and a half ton trucks. There were also quotations from Brant- ford Anthony Dump Box Co. for the town No.2 truck. Approval of this last purchase will be sought from the Department of Highways. Water accounts of $1.50 and general accounts of $1,214.50 were passed for payment. The account of D.J.Kelly was held over for payment since Coun- cil are not satisfied with the glasses ordered to com- memorate the subway opening, the picture on them not being clear. Some disatisfaction was expressed with bill for sidewalk and the contractors asked to send in new bill at 60 cents square foot. Water rebates were made to Miss Heather Graham and to Bulna Cabins. Bill Campbell was home fron Toronto for the week- end. Bill is taking a course in Communications. November 25, 1965 LIBRARY BOARD MEETS H.M.Ermel presided for the November meeting of the Public Library Board with Miss Gwen Hadley, secretary-treasurer, giving her reports, both financial and correspondence, and the report from Mrs .Andrea Hill, librarian. Mrs .L..R.McCuaig reported on the Regional Library conference which she and Mrs. W.G.Furlonger atten- ded in Fort William. It was decided to purchase metal filing cabinets, with stand, for capacity of 9600 books, which will be double filed, both by name and author. The resignation of Mrs.Cyril Sparkes, high school appointee to the board, was accepted with regret. A letter of thanks was sent to Mrs.W. Baynes for a donation of books. CUB-SCOUT COMMITTEE PLAN EVENTS - The group committee, cubs and scouts, held a meeting chaired by J.R.Smith, to plan coming events. The resignation of Reo Nagasaki, treasurer, was accepted with regret and Miss Georgette LeBlanc colunteered to act in this office. Mothers of cubs and scouts were asked to contri- bute to a bake sale being held on December 4 in Dresswell Cleaners Shop. Plans were made for the annual Father and Son Banquet, with Dec.1 set as a tentative date. Over fifty Canadian Girls in Training and Catholic Girls' Club members gathered with their leaders in the United Church Hall to assist the T.B.Christmas Seal committee.
