Phone 3833 CATHOLIC WOMEN'S LEAGUE (Continued from P.8 from St.Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary, informing the League that no Terrace Bay residents were among the winners of their Penny Auction. However, they ex- pressed their thanks for our kind support. A Mass for the fallen soldiers was celebrated on November 11th. Each convenor gave her report. Mrs.G.Dashke- wytch, Spiritual Convenor, spoke about the inspiring life of St.Martin of Tours, patron saint of our parish whose feast day is November II. Final plans for the Christmas party will be held in conjunction with the December meeting. A good turnout is expected. The ladies were reminded to kindly continue col- lecting Canada Packer labels and either send them to the home of Mrs. R.McBride or leave them in the basement of the Church. The evening closed with Father's blessing and the singing of O Canada. Lunch was served by Mrs. Malashewski and her committee. CENTENNIAL PROJECT MEETING At a recent meeting held at the Recreation Centre, Acting Chairman Ed Cavanaugh outlined the Centen- nial project for Terrace Bay and further discussed the formation of a Centennial Planning Committee. Fourteen organizations were represented at this meet- ing. Mr .Cavanaugh laid out the following plan for a Centennial Committee: Chairman, Secretary-Treas- urer, Co-chairman of Women's Organizations, Co- chairman of Men's Organization and three members to act in the District Organization. These offices will be filled at the next meeting of the Centennial Planning. Mr .Cavanaugh had anticipated a much larger turn- out from representatives of organizations and service clubs, and it is hoped that such will be the case. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, Dec- ember 8th, in the large meeting room. The proposed Centennial project of an Adult Study Lounge in the Recreation Centre met with much dis- approval from the members at this meeting and Mr. Cavanaugh was requested to write to the Centennial Planning Branch in Ottawa and have them re-consider another project. Several projects were brought for- ward: (|) Beautification of the area west of town, by planting shrubbery and trees; (2) a tree-planting project for the entire town; (3) location for a park. Mr .Cavanaugh commented on the Travelling Con- federation Caravan which will be in Terrace Bay on Oct.7, 1967. Word has been officially received confirming this date. The Caravan consists of eight huge and-colourful tractor trailers. Each caravan will be parked in corral fashion, en- closing a central exhibit space and stage. Identi- cal exhibits depicting Canada's past, present and future will be displayed in the train and in all caravans. Exhibits are not of the static museum type but will consist of vivid designs in electronic voice descriptions, sound and smell . Any service club or organization that has not been notified, is urged to send representatives to this next meeting. WOMEN OF THE MOOSE MEET The Women of the Moose met Wednesday evening at the Moose Home, with Senior Regent Margery Dejonghe presiding. Two new members, Barbara Nesbitt and Monique Firland, were welcomed into the Defending Circle. Social Service Chairman Ann Todesco announced that the next Chapter Night would be the member's exchange of Christmas gifts, with $1.00 price limit on them. The meeting adjourned with the Library Committee in charge of lunch. Lorraine Huard won the Share-the-Wealth draw. The next meeting will be Decemb er Ist.
