Page 4 COUNCIL QUOTES (Continued from page l) Councillor Thompson brought to the atten - tion of Council, news items of other towns in the district who were now questioning the cost of three District Homes for Aged, feel- ing their stand at the District meeting appear ed to have raised some doubts on the subject. Another item by a news commentator stated that what was satisfactory twenty-five years ago was not satisfactory today, and that what is needed is nursing homes, not homes for the aged. Councillor Cavanaugh enquired as to what action had been taken on the M.O.H., Dr. McCausland's recommendation to join with the District Health Unit. The secretary, Mr. W.F.Strutt, replied it had been consid- ered too high in price with the Town not pre- pared to advance to the estimated five to six thousand dollar fee. He was instructed to have their representative meet with Coun- cil to discuss coverage and fees as the Reeve and Council had been advised by Dr. McCausland this Could be a most worthwhile service to the community. Councillor Brown was commended on the new street signs now being erected, which sparked a somewhat heated discussion on establishing more stop signs at hazardous corners such as Fort Garry and Superior and around St. Martin's Church. It was noted the danger, and subsequent accidents, around the Community Church, had been removed by widening out the road allowance. Coun- cillor Brown was advised to take whatever action was necessary and placed an order for further street signs. In closing, Councillor Thompson threw the well-worn old question into the ring, "Do we have a Dog THE WHOLE Catcher?" The Secretary was instructed to advertise for a Dog Cather; Reeve Adamo re- marking he would hire only a working Dog Catcher, not a Dog Catcher in name only.
