She is presently teaching singing in Winnipeg and many of her students are now professionally engaged. Registration will be limited, so please be sure to notify the Recreation Office as soon as possible if you plan to attend. The fee for this course is $2.00, and entrants will be received from all communities along the North Shore. CURLING NEWS At a recent meeting of the executive of the Men's Curling Club, Don Tees was appointed to fill the vacancy of Secretary. A Director will be appoint- ed to take Don's place. The annual meeting will be held on October I|8th in the Club Lounge. We expect to have a good sports film for the stag which will follow the meeting. We understand that ice will be avail- able early in November and have sche- duled the opening Mixed Turkey Bon- spiel for November |2th and [3th. Membership Chairman, Doug Knight, urges all curlers and prospective curlers to start making up teams for club play now--don't leave it until the + last min- ute. We need new Skips and we hope we will have many new curlers. An interesting and varied schedule of events has been drawn up by the execu- tive. So--if you are interested in fresh air, exercise, good fellowship and good times--plan to curl. Membership appli- cation forms will be distributed early in October . - Jim MacDonald GOLF NEWS A meeting of the local club's Board of Governors was held on Sept .|6th in the Recreation Centre. Jack Thomas outlined the progress on the new cot- tage and gave a detailed report on re- cent purchases in order to complete it. Plumbing, sewerage, lighting and heat- ing should be finished in ten days. After this is done a work party will move in and should finish the cottage in a few days. Final expenditures for the cottage were approved. The building of this fine looking and well constructed cottage, plus the fact that it is fully paid for is an outstanding indication of the progress and success of the golf club. The men who made. up the work parties helped considerably in cutting down costs. A vote of thanks also to Harvey Smith, owner of Lake- head Freightways, who absorbed a THE NEWS cottage. 21 YRS OLD? The entry fee goes toward prizes. Approval and final arrangements for the wind-up banquet on October 23rd were made and tickets will go on sale immediately. A considerable amount of expense is involved in putting on this banquet and the amount is based on a large attendance. Members are urged to. keep this date in mind and guests are also welcome. This first wind-up will set a pattern for future years. When you consider the two hundred and twen- ty odd memberships and fifteen hundred dollars in green fees this year you can realize the success of the club and the tremendous recreation provided to this community. A celebration is definitely in order, so contact your friends and or ganize a party for a gala evening on October 23rd.
