- 1965 THE ' August 19, RECREATION BRIEFS - by Buck Fastbal| Men's Senior fastball have completed their sche- dule and are ready for playoffs which should get underway this week. In my early season prediction | said Caccamo's was the team to beat and it looks as if they are well on their way. They finished the league in first place and now wait for the winners of the semi-final series between Costa's and Ken- mac's. The semi-final series is a sudden death game. The finals will be a best-of-three series with the winner advancing to the Interlocking finals with Schreiber. Nick Chopti, the ace Cac- camo hurler, wound up as the top pitcher for the season. Our local ladies fastball team have started to come out with some commendable performances in recent games. In a tournament played at Red Rock our girls lost the first game I5 - 8 to a powerful Port Arthur all-star team. In their second encoun- ter they edged our neighbours, Schreiber, |!-10 and in the final of the consolation event Red Rock edged Terrace Bay 2 - | in a real pitcher's duel . Jean Fisher has added the big lift to the team with her steady and reliable hurling. This past weekend the local girls played a two game exhibition series with Red Rock. In the first game Terrace Bay edged Red Rock II-10 and in the second game Red Rock came back to down Terrace Bay by a I|-7 margin. The Terrace Bay Ladies Fastball team have done very well for themselves in their first season of play, in comparison to other ladies' fastball clubs in the North Shore. They are by far the youngest ball club playing in Senior competition. The Terrace Bay Ladies fastball team was actually a girl's junior team but they have been bolstered by two ladies. With this team we can expect big things for next season. They have several games to be played this season with the next game at Red Rock on August 29th. On the same date the team of girls 12 years and under will also play an exhibition game at Red Rock. Junior Fastball Our Junior fastball team, sponsored by the Moose played a two-game home and home series with Beardmore .
