Faulty chipping is a major cause of mich of this waste. One thing that can be extremely help- ful in chipping -- is the practice of keeping the club close to the ground on the backswing, i downswing and follow through. Try to make your chipping stroke much like the putting stroke. Picking up the club abruptly is the cause of most bad chips -- causing you to hit the chip fast or to top it. Anothér flaw in chipping is selecting the wrong club. Too much loft should be avoided. High loft clubs will give you more back spin with little roll and less control. In chipp- ing you want the ball to roll and this can be done mich better with a 6 or 7 iron. Only constant practice and play will enable one to learn just how hard to hit chips in order to get best results. Stand with feet close together, the weight evenly distributed and the hands slightly ahead of the ball at address. For best results, it is advisable to choke up about three to four inches on the grip. This gives greater control of the ¢lub by the hands. The chip shot should be mainly a hand and arm shot. There should be very little body motion. Gi the CHURCH of youre | ST. JOHN'S ANGLICAN CHURCH - Rev.R.J.S. Inshaw July 8, 1965 SCHREIBER Services each Sunday at 8.45,10.00,11.00 A.M. and 5.00 P.M.
