As the season progresses, Caccamo's are beginning to show promise as the team to beat in the league. Costa's have come up with a good hurler in Joey Commisso. He should provide Costa's with the strength at the mound. Inter-locking league games | with Schreiber have been at a standstill. Schreiber is in the process of landscaping a new athletic field. At the past four games, | have noticed an increase in attendance of ball fans. | hope this increase continues and see more people at the games. Manitouwadge were scheduled to play an exhibi- tion fastball game here this past weekend, however, arrangements did not materialize and they wi Il play here next Sunday afternoon. An All-Star squad will be selected from out Senior League to play them. Another game billed for the same day will be a Girls' Fastball game between a Port Arthur and Terrace Bdy team. This is a Junior Girl's contest, 17 years and under. This will be the girl's first debut on a ball diamond in several years. This girl's All-Star team will have several other games of fastball this season which are now being arranged. FALL WORKSHOPS: Mr .Bev.McAuley, District Representative from the Community Programmes Division, will be in town this week to discuss and lay out a format for an Area Workshop in Ceramics and Choral and Choir Courses.. These courses will be held here in Terrace Bay early this fall. MINOR LEAGUE FASTBALL: All teams are in their last games of the schedule and play-offs will start this weekend. All-Star tryouts have been called for this week for all age groups in both boys' and girls' division. These All- Star teams will compete in the North Shore Minor Fastball tournament here in Terrace Bay on Thursday, July 8. In the Junior Girl's League, the Slate Islanders finished the league in first place with a 3 - 0 record. In the Bantam Boy's League, the Superiors, coached by Ken Woods, wrapped up first place with a 3 - | record. This meeting was attended by representa- tives of the surrounding communities. The purpose of this Council is outlined as follows: "The Commit- tee on Folk Arts has been set up to provide informa- tion to the various communities and ethnic' groups on how to plan folk festivals, displays of folk crafts or centennial celebrations of traditional holidays re- lating to the particular locality or ethnic group." The term "Folk Arts" is defined in its broadest sense and can include a wide range of activities: anything from presentations of local legends, tales- poetry - the making and displaying of costumes of former homelands or those native to Canada - to cooking, dancing, fiddling contests and singing. The Ontario Folk Arts Advisory Committee will offer assistance in setting up local committees, and advice on planning the proposed events.
