THE eg -- -- -- Mr.and Mrs .R.Mendelin Photo by B.Allard VOWS EXCHANGED IN COMMUNITY CHURCH The marriage of Barbara Carol Sweet to Robert Orval Mendelin was solemnized at 4 o'clock Satur- day, June 12 in Terrace Bay Community Church. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mr.and Mrs. F.A.Sweet, Terrace Bay and the groom is the son of Mr.and Mrs.A.Mendelin of Port Arthur. Rev. T. Garnett Husser officiated at the double ring ceremony before an altar adorned with pink gladiolus. Soloist was Miss Joanne Brown, accompanied at the organ by Mr.Brian Hubelit. Escorted on the arm of her father, the bride was radiant in a formal gown of nylon chiffon over bridal satin. Fashioned with a fitted bodice, sab- rina neckline and long tapered sleeves fastened by self covered buttons, the very slim skirt was trimmed in front with deel Alencon lace applique and com- plimented in back by a detachable watteau train fastened at the waist by a large rosette of chiffon. A tiara of seed pearls and iridescents caught the bouffant bridal veil and she carried a bouquet of red roses, the streamers caught with rose buds. Mrs .Ronald Marquis attended her sister as Matron of Honor and bridesmaids were Misses Lee Petrus and Miss Sharyn Timpano, niece of the bride. The flower girls were also nieces, Misses Bonnie and Cindy Cole. Gowned identically, the attendants chose street length dresses of turquoise bemberg over taffeta. The sheath skirts were centred with a self bow at the front and the fitted bodices were fashioned simply with scoop necklines and elbow length sleeves. They wore turquoise wedding ring headdresses with fly-away veils and matching ac- cessories and each carried a colonial bouquet of white carnations intertwined with turquoise net. The two little flower girls were dainty in light blue dresses with lace bodices topped with a small rose and very full organza skirts over crinolines. They wore white organza bonnets trimmed with tiny rosebuds and a back bow and white accessories and each carried a basket of white mums intertwined with light blue net. Mr.Alan Tesky, cousin of the bride, was grooms- man and escorting the guests to pews marked with white satin bows were Mr.Bill Woodruff and Mr. NEWS Page 5 Ken Rennett. For the reception at the Moose Hall the Mother of the bride received in a three piece suit of pink silk boucle, white flowered hat and accessories and a corsage of pink roses. Assisting, the Mother of the groom chose a dress of light blue lace, white flower- ed hat and accessories and a corsage of pink roses. The bride's table was centred with a bouquet of pink gladiolus and held the three tier wedding cake, decorated with pink roses and topped with wedding bells. Mrs.Marvin Osmar, sister of the groom, cut the wedding cake and dining room hostesses were Mrs.H.Duriez and Mrs.S.Synishin. Servitors were Misses Stephie Synishin, Susan Brooks, Elaing Long, Beverley Phillips and Meredith Coe. The guest book was circulated by Debbie Cole, niece of the bride and Jimmy Osmar, nephew of the groom. Mr. Reg .Cotton proposed the toast to the bride. For a wedding trip to Niagara Falls and points in Eastern Ontario the bride travelled in a three piece linen suit in yellow, white hat and accessories and a corsage of white carnations. Mr.and Mrs.Mendelin will reside at 182 Hudson Drive. Prior to their marriage the bride was feted at a shower in Port Arthur by Mrs.A.Mendelin, a shower in Terrace Bay Community Chur ch with hostesses Mesdames S.Synishin, W.Sitko and M.Osmar. A dinner and presentation from the bride's co-workers and a presentation to the bride from the primary Sunday School classes was made. A stag was held for the groom arranged by fellow co-workers. Out of town guests were: Mr.A.Sweet and Mr. and Mrs .E.Teskey of Essex, Miss Elaine Teskey of London, Ontario, Miss Lee Petrus of Toronto, Mr. Ken Rennett, Duncan, B.C., Mr.and Mrs.Cole and family of Manitouwadge, Mr.and Mrs .A.Mendelin, Mr.and Mrs.O.Mendelin, Mr.and Mrs.A.IIkka, Mr.and Mrs.L.Marshall, Mr.and Mrs.A.Salonen, Mr.and Mrs.R.Klaas, Mr.and Mrs.W.Hankkio, Mr. and Mrs.B.Marquis, Mr.L.Reid, Mr.and Mrs.D. Almos, all of Port Arthur, Mr.and Mrs .C .Pelto of Nolalu, Mrs.J.IIkka, Mr.and Mrs .O .Stenback, Mr.and Mrs.T.Reivonen, Mr.and Mrs.J.Trudeau and Mr.and Mrs.B.Himes all of Fort William, Mr.and Mrs .R.Kotenen of McIntyre and Mr.and Mrs .Ed Oja of Nipigon. Mrs .Rose Corrigan has returned from Kitchener where she visited her husband Jim, now resting comfortably after his fall. She remained in i Guelph for another week due to the sudden pas- sing of Jim's uncle, Mr.Frank Kelecher. Mrs Betty Ollen-Bittle with children Judy, Jim and Erle of Anderson, California are the guests this week of Jackie and Gordon Calder while visiting many of their friends in Terrace Bay. Home from Northwood Highschool in Port Arthur for the summer are Jacqueline Yates with her par- ents, Mr.and Mrs.Jack Yates, Grant Solly with his parents, Mr.and Mrs.Howard Solly and Pat Kennedy with his parents, Mr.and Mrs.J.Kennedy. Joe Dorland is home from Pickering College in Newmarket to spend his vacation with his parents, Mr .and Mrs.Terry Dorland.
