The temporary schedule for the month of June is as follows:- Opening Day - Thursday, June 24th - 2:00 P.M. Weekdays - 2:00 - 5.30 PM - Open Swimming Weekends - 6:00 - 7:00 PM - 15 years and over. It is quite difficult, at this time, to determine a definite summer schedule until after all swimming registrations have been received. Next week, the Swimming Instructor, Brian Care, and our two local police officers, Mr.Jim Doyle and} Date Whitely, will visit the grade schools here and give short lectures on Water Safety. MINOR FASTBALL Our minor leagues are having an exceptionally good season of fastball. | find the both girls' leagues more enthused about fastball than the boys. In the boys' league, there is a good crop of ballplayers coming up. Two whip arm pitchers who are showing much promise for future years are R.Delaronde and G.Coe. | would easily predict that the bulk of the players playing in the Bantam Fastball League will wind up in the Senior League next year. The all- star team (16 years) and under will have a powerful roster with boys like P.Heenan, J.Mikus, G.Ches- ley and R.Dorman to bolster this team. Three of these boys are presently playing with Kenmac's of the Senior Fastball League. The girl's all-star team will play several exhibi- tion games this summer. A team from the Lakehead will be coming up here for a doubleheader game early in July. From the looks of it, Girls' Fastball is back on the up-swing in Terrace Bay. TRACK AND FIELD Our local Royal Can.Legion Branch and the Rec- reation Association will be sponsoring several local athletes at a Track and Field Clinic in Marathon. The 1965 Sports Training Clinic, sponsored by Distric #8 of the Royal Canadian Legion will be held from July 28 - 31, 1965. The coaching staff will consist of Fred Taylor, Tom Parker, Dave Lyon and Grant Standbook, all from Winnipeg. A local Track and Field Club will be organized next month and if there are any people interested in track and field coaching, please get in touch with me. PLAYGROUNDS The opening date of Playground Activities will be on Monday, July 5. You do not have to register your name for this programme. All children from 5 years and up are welcome to attend. The schedule i erate on a daily schedule - morning and ea NEWS afternoon. Special events will be held in the even- ings. SENIOR FASTBALL Kenmac's are starting to set a torrid pace in lea- gue play with a 7 - | record. A good combination of hitting, fielding and pitching seems to be the solution of their progress. This league could certain- ly use a few more pitchers. There are a number of ballplayers who are willing to play ball and form another Senior team, but are lacking in mound staff. The following is the Senior Men's standing to date: 7 PTS Cr 2 8 2 4 KENMAC'S CACCAMO'S COUPLE HONORED ON 25TH ANNIVERSARY A surprise party was held Saturday evening in hon- our of the Silver Wedding Anniversary of Marge and _Sax Lundberg at the home of Pat and Clarence Buck.
