Photo by R.Cotton SEA CADETS INSPECTED The annual inspection of Royal Canadian Superior Sea Cadet Corps by Lieutenant Commander C. E. Shaver, RCN was observed Monday by: many friends and relatives of the cadets and offi- cers as they assembled in the Terrace Bay Arena. Assistiig Commander Shaver was S/Lieut., P. Levy. Inspect- ing officers were welcomed aboard by commanding officer Lieut., J. Cumming. A detailed inspection of the ship's company and march past preceded the presentation of annual awards. A new trophy donated by officers of Admiral Cradock and Vindictive corps was awarded for the first time to A/PO Bob McMillan as the best all-round cadet. While money isn't everthing it does keep you A trophy presented by the ship's chaplain, Rev. T. G. Hus- ser for the best ordinary cadet. went to Knut Schmiedschen. Schreiber Division was awarded the best division shield. Commander Shaver said the corps is a credit to the Navy League and Terrace Bay. He commended S/Lieut., Levy who had assisted him the past several years and who would be leaving the navy in a few days. Also attending the inspection were Lieut. All ten member mills in the Ontario Northwest were repre- sented at the annual meeting of Northwestern Ontario Branch (Mills), Ontario Pulp and Pa- per Makers' Safety Association. Speakers included M. E. (Mike) Falby, Calgary, safety representative for Shell Canada Ltd.; D. B. Chant, Toronto, re- tired OPPMSA secretary-mana- ger; Dwight Reid, Marathon mill] superintendent, and Wally Lockhart, OPPMSA §assistznt manager. The Branch award for 1964 for having no accidents during the year, won by Domtar News- print Ltd., Red Rock, was pre- sented to mill manager J. L. Halter by Mr. Lockhart. Mill employees Sam Baxter, Earl Moist and Norman Cook received individual safety prizes for first aid. The presentations were made at the dinner Thurs- day.
