They have received their new bush fire equipment and are ready for any emergency. May accounts were passed as follows:- Public Lib rary $320.85, Hydro $6,719.61, Township $7,459.37 and Snack Bar $4,236.88 and Recrea- tion $6,687.53. Councillor Thompson reported the Snack Bar has been turned over to the Recreation Committee and the management to the Recreation Director. The Smoke Shop will be relocated, allowing for staff reductions. Councillor Thompson described the automatic pinsetter which is being installed in the bowling alleys this summer by Kimberly- Clark for recreation. With the re-opening of the theatre, complaints had been received concerning restricted movies. It was requested the Police Department see these were enforced. Secretary W.F .Strutt was instructed to reply to a letter from the Royal Canadian Legion concerning water supply to their Club rooms in winter. The Department of Municipal Affairs wrote urging Terrace Bay to submit formal application for their Centennial project. Councillor Cavanaugh an- nounced recent developments and felt there should be something definite for next Council meeting. Financing of the house purchased by the High School was studied and will be investigated. The street markers are being redesigned and painted at an approximate cost of $250. Councillor Brown said he and Councillor Cavanaugh looked into sur- veying a new Cemetery road and also resurveying the plots. It appeared that grave cribs would cor- rect the soil situation. Reeve Adamo is seeking appointments to meet with members of Parliament, Hon .Spooner, Hon. Wardrope and Mr.Cecile prior to the Mayors and Reeves Convention in Kitchener, June 20 to 30. He and Councillor Cavanaugh will attend. Councillor Fraser noted the new fire equipment arriving and also forwarded a request that the department be allowed to keep (Continued Page 4) Serving the District June 17, 1965 ; Photo by G.Cotton GOODWILL TOUR VISITS TERRACE BAY A bus load of newspaper editors from many parts of the United States, presently on a goodwill tour of Ontario, paid a visit to Terrace Bay last Wed- nesday morning and were entertained by manage- ment of the Kimberly-Clark mill here. Following a brief inspection of the Mill and Townsite, the Company hosted a lucheon and social hour in the Terrace Bay Motor Hotel. Mill Manager J.A.Ferrier welcomed the guests. The group are taking the tour under sponsorship of the Ontario Government. It is expected that they will, on their return home, describe Ontario in terms to encourage holiday-minded citizens of the U.S.A.to visit Ontario.
