Many lovely gifts were opened and the door prize was won by Marie Bull. Hostesses Theresa Ray and Brenda Campbell were assisted with the luncheon by Marie Frederickson, Barbara McMillan, Ruth Ann Rigelsford, Sharon MacDon- ald and Laura Morris. Paul Heenan, son of Mr.and Mrs.Joe Heenan, ~ has been accepted for pilot training by the Air Force and is presently stationed at Centralia, Ont. Peter Gombola, re- ceived her B.A. degree at Con- vocation Exer- cises at Queens University in Kingston, Ont. a on May 22nd. oe Darlene and her mother flew from Greenville South Carolina for the ceremony. Before going on to University Darlene attended St.Martin's Separate School and Terrace Bay High School. She will teach middle and upper school Chemistry at Loyalist Collegiate, Kingston in the Fall. MRS .UZICANIN ADDRESSES LADIES AUXILIARY Clara Gould accompanied the opening hymn and President Lois Hopper welcomed the ladies attending the June meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary Monday in the Community Church Hall. The Worship was taken by Olive Martin. Minutes and correspondence were read by the Sec- retary, June Schritt and the financial statement was given by Betty Turner. Convenors reporting were:- Property, Eva Haughn - Ways and Means, Virginia Galvin (who announced Althea Fraser would convene the Rummage Sale on Saturday morning with pickup of articles on Friday morning) Sick and Visiting, Betty Sweet - Program, Shirley Hersey (sought volun- teers on programming). Manse Committee - Lois Downey, Altar Guild, Alice Farrow. A twenty-five dollar donation was made to the Transient Aid Fund administered by Rev .Husser . Marilyn Chisholm thanked those involved for a most successful Delicatessen Sole Hilda Hiebert hos announced she will take orders for Molana sweaters. Guest speaker for the evening, Mrs .R .Uzicanin: - gave a very interesting talk on Pakistan where she lived for 61/2 years. She stressed the extreme poverty of 80% of the population who exist on a diet of thin wheat cakes. With an average temperature 'of 105 degrees, one of the big problems was combat- ing mosquitoes and because of this a curfew was called at 7 p.m. Though all marriages are planned and dominated by the eldest member of the family, there had been no divorces known to Mrs .Uzicanin during her stay there. Two movies on the beauties of the country were shown with Lois Downey as pro- jectionist. ' Wilma Chadney and her committee of M.Duriez, M. Phillips, N.Coe and L.Harris served luncheon as the evening concluded.
