ST.MARTIN'S SCHOOL NEW FLAG St.Martin's Separate School held its official 'Canadian Flag Raising ceremon y at noon on March 30. Before the Canadian Ensign was lowered by four Boy Scouts, Miss Joyce Raper paid a tribute of respect. Very Rev.Dean E.A.Gallagher spoke of the signifi- cance of our Canadian Flag and the high place patriotism held as a Christ- ian ideal. After the Blessing of the Canadian Flag, four Sea Cadets raised' the Flag to its proper place. During the program under the direc- torship of Mr.John Bird, the Schoo} Choir and the audience of pa rents and school children sang patriotic songs at appropriate times. | BROWNIE BANQUET HELD "A train needs many people, all working at their own job to make the train run, explained Mrs. Shirley Mikus District Commissioner, as: she com- pared the many positions which made the Brownie Packs similar in their training and the people who run their training. Addressing over 100 Brown- ies, their Mothers and guests at the llth annual Mother and Daughter Brown ie Banquet, Wednesday evening, in the Terrace Bay Motor Hotel, Mrs. Mikus showed the girls how their Brown Owls and Tawny Owls were the En- gineers and Trainmen, that she was the signalman directing traffic and over- flow and even the Local Association were like the lumps of coal, very necessary to keep that train running. She then introduced the Brown Owls, Tawny Owls and Packee of the three Packs and the members of the Local Association who were pre sent. Brownie Grace was sung before the lovely turkey dinner and a Toast to the Queen proposed by Paulette Coupal and a toast to Lady Baden Powell by Patricia Megraw. S.A., and very impressive and color- ful as the flags of some seventy-two nations represented by Girl Guides, fluttered in the mountain breezes. The head table was decorated with centrepieces made by the Brownies, all depicting different Brownie and nature scenes. NIGHT OUT AT HIGH SCHOOL The Student's Council of Terrace Bay High School have arranged what is called "Night Out at T.B.H.S% for this Friday, April 9th. Action starts at 7.30 P.M. in the Auditorium and a varied program of Gymnastics, Folks Dancing, Comedies and Vocal Talent will be presented. Prices are reasonable and the talent considerable so we urge everyone to get out and support this event.
