Prior to her departure Mrs. Matuszak was en- tertained by members of the Choir of St. Martin's oman Catholic Church, at the home o Mrs. Colleen Persson. A Social evening and Singsong entertained the members who presented the guest of honor with crystal jewellery and their good wishes. School mates held class parties for the Matuszaks as they prepared to leave Terrace Bay. Mr. Kenneyts Grade eight class presented Ronald with a Baseball mitt, Mr, McAdams Grade four class gave David a wallet and air- plane kit, and Grade six and seven, Mr. Bird's classroom, held a joint farewell party for Denise and another recent departee, David Daniels. Denise received a chést of scented stationery while David received two model plane kits. NINE Brownies Flew up to Guides Friday evening in a ceremony held in St. Martin's Church Hall. Welcoming the Brownies to the newly reorganized Second Terrace Bay Girl Guide Company were Captain Brant and Lieuten- ants Hales and McInnes. The Brownies were Wendy McMillan, Nettie St. Louis, Jacqueline Mousseau, Denise Rochon, Phyllis Ann Turner, Leslie Ann Cotton, Judy Dakin, Jo-Ann Stevens, Brown Owl Fournier of the lst Pack Brownies and Tawny Owl Cadieux of the 3rd Pack partici- pated in the Ceremony. C.G.1.T. HOLD AFTERNOON TEA Celebrating the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Canadian Girls in Training, the Terrace Bay C.G.I.T. held a very lovely tea Saturday afternoon in the Community Church. The guests were welcomed by Leadefs Mrs. E. Berndtsson and Mrs. H. Brooks for the first hour and by Leader Mrs. M. Dorland and President J. Crandlemire for the second hour. In the place of honor on the white covered tea table stood a beautiful three tier anniver Sary cake decorated in white with a "50th" in gold lettering on top. Gold tapers in gold candlelabra flanked the cake. Seated at the tea services during the afternoon were Mes- dames M. Middaugh, G. Soughton, N. Crockford, I. Pattison, L. Hopper and Miss B. Sweet, all former Leaders of the Terrace Bay C.G.I.T. Individual tea tables were centred with a gold and white taper in a flowered holder. Ser- vitors were B. dopper, C. Neely, M. Coe, J. Brown, S. Graham, S. Chard, K. Lundberg, L. Ballentine and C. Olsen. Items pertaining to the C,G,I.T., its aim and work and pictures of past camp groups were displayed at a booth presided over by Jill . Crandlemire. M. Hopper wore a beautiful silk Sari and displayeu pictures and literature of India, this year's study. She had been assisted by Judy Graham. M. The Busy Bees of the Angli- can Church are holding their annual showing of Spring hats March 19 in the town hall. As: is the custom tea and small cakes will be served while the hats are being shown from 8-10 p.m. ST JOHN AMBULANCE MEETING The St.Johns Ambulance nursing division of Schrei ber held their regular meeting in the Town Hall on March Ist with Mrs.D.Rummery presiding for the business meeting. Provincial Staff Officer W.P.Burnell was guest speaker and presented a film on senses pertaining to first aid. Mr.Bull of the Dept.of Lands & Forests was also a guest. A Schreiber Brigade team competed on February 24th for the George Wardrope Trophy and the George Duncan Trophy. The next meeting will be held on Monday, March, 22nd in the Town Hall. Mr.and Mrs.Forbes Macadam are visiting their son Gordon and his family in Winnipeg. Mrs.J.R.Rummery reports that the gratifying sum of $365.74 was collected by the 41 March of Dimes canvassers working under captains Mesd. J.D.Bryson R.G.Macadam, W.R.Mullins, D'Arcy McGuire and Oscar Niemi. SCHREIBER LADY CURLERS TO MEET The ladies curling club will hold a general meeting in the Club room March 14 at 2 p.m. All members are urged to attend. Skip Lena Holmes won both day trophies this year the Spadoni and the Seagrim cups. Frankie Caccamo won the club night trophy. Members cre still com- peting for the Terrace Bay News Trophy. Mrs .Cliff Dimmery is in Toronto visiting her husband who is in hospital there.
