Representatives from the Police Commission had inspected the Police Department last week, Reeve Heenan commented, and after talking with both Policement report ed there was nothing basically wrong with the Department, though advocating more men and equipment. They also recommended better quarters for the Department and cells to save trans- porting prisoners to the Lakehead. The Reeve per- sonally did not feel they had the provision for cells either in feeding or guarding, but they had been investigating a more adequate office. The Commis- sion were quite satisfied with the relationship betwee the Council and Police Department and cited in- stances in other towns where the Police had to con- tact the authorities before they could make an arrest. Councillor Cavanaugh was not too pleased with the plans for amalgamation but was assured it would in- crease the Police force by one, without making either Policeman into firemen. Scoring for the Canadiens were Schritt, Gresdal and Eddie Zware sh while K.Turne and Fedorak racked up the goals for the losers. In the other game the first place Leafs blanked the Kawks 5 - 0. Fisher paced the Leafs with three goals and Simmer scored two and also had two assists. In Bantam action last Thursday the A's defeated the B's by a score of 6 - 2. Reggie Rennette paced the A's with a three goal hat trick. Papineau had two goals with a single going to Daley, Cadieux and Phillips scored the only goals for the B's.
