THE CATHOLIC WOMEN MEET gue was held Sunday, Nov.8th in St.Martin's Church basement preceded by recitation of the Rosary. Very Rev .Dean E.A.Gallagher led in the League prayer. President Mrs.M.Nicol chaired the meeting and Mrs.J.Kenney read the minutes and correspondence. A letter from Mrs.A.A. Bedard of Ft.William thanked St.Martin's Council for hosting the Regional meeting which was held Oct.28. The Treasurer, Mrs.L. Legault, read her report and also various convenors. Mrs.Nicol reported on the Regional Conference whose theme this year is the Catholic Adoption pro- gram. It was decided to have a Christmas party in the Church Hall, Dec.6th at 7 P.M. Anyone wishing to attend is requested to contact Mrs.A.Regis by Nov. 23. Mrs.G.Savoy and her committee will cater to the No.Shore unit of the Ontario Ehglish Catholic Teachers' Assoc., meeting on Nov.29th. The meeting ended with O Canada and Holy God We Praise Thy Name. This year the nylons will be sent to the Rehabilitation Industries of the Lakehead, mas sale. The Afternoon Branch of the Ladies Auxiliary will meet on Monday, Nov.|6th at 1.45 P.M. in the Com- munity Church. This month the members are collect- ing white cotton material such as shirts, sheets and pillowcases to cut and roll into bandages for shipment to Lepers. They are also still collecting any good used children's books for the Hospital . Congratulations are extended to Councillor and Mrs .Ed Cavanaugh who celebrate their forty-fifth wedding anniversary on Wednesday ,November 11th. Mavis and John Cavanaugh of Elliott Lake, Ontario visited their respective parents, Mr.and Mrs.Dan MacFadyen and Mr.and Mrs.Ed Cavanaugh before leaving to vacation in Bermuda. Mrs.W.Anderson, Chairman of the Unicef Collec- tion reports a total of $71.57 collected this year by Brownies, Girl Guides and C.G.1.T.on Halloween. Owing to the cloudburst the children were not out long but they wish to thank the townspeople for their support. Rev.T.Garnett Husser officiated at the ceremony with Mrs.C.Simmer at the | organ. The bride was lovely in a white gown of Peau de Soie, fashioned with a basque bodice and long lily pointed sleeves. The scoop neckline was trimmed with deep re-embroidered lace sprinkled with seed pearls and the straight front was enhanced by three | sprays of embroidered lace and seed pearls. A fan bow fastened with two self rosettes complimented the | bustle back. A crown of drop and seed pearls held the Chapel veil of silk illusion and she carried a bou- quet of red roses interlaced with forget-me-nots. She was given in marr iage by Mr.Paul Jorgenson of Port Arthur. Mrs.B.Marquis, Matron of Honor, wore a gown of peau de soie and lace in peacock blue. The lace bodice featured long sleeves and floating panel in peau de soie. The skirt was in bell design. She wore matching slippers and a blue veil headress and carried a corsage of white carnations and forget-me- nots. Groomsman was Mr.B.Marquis and brothers of the groom, Joseph and Lloyd ushered. For a reception in the Curling Lounge, the groom's mother chose a two-piece ensemble in peacock wool knit with lace overlay jacket. Her corsage was red roses. Assisting in receiving Mrs.P.Jorgenson wore a brown silk figured sheath with beige pillbox and brown accessories. Her corsage was pink roses. The three-tier wedding cake, flanked by white tapers, adorned the bride's table. Rev.Husser propos- ed the toast to the bride and Mrs.L.Dejonghe circu- lated the guest book. The groom's aunt, Mrs.Martha Strome, cut the wedding cake. During the reception the groom's father presented his son and daughter-in-law with a family Bible. For a wedding trip to Edmonton the bride travelled in an off-white wool sheath, pearl jewellery and blue accessories. She wore a corsage of red roses. The couple will reside in Terrace Bay. admission
