Of necessity this is limited by the economy of each developing country. But UNICEF is world-wide. It needs the financial assistance of intelligent world citizens. RAE AS ATE OPE TE, LRTI I TNL SAAN AR OTTO LEGION LADIES HOLD ANNIVERSARY PARTY A birthday party was held Saturday to cele- brate the very first birthday of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 223. Wearing a red rose corsage, the gift of the gentlemen of the Branch, the Ladies sat down to a delightful dinner in the Curling Lounge. Grace was pronounced by Mrs. C. Bougi and the Toast to the Queen by Mrs. A. Ball. Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening, Mrs. H. Solly, first Vice-President of the Auxiliary, welcomed the members and their guests and introduced her executive: Mrs. W. Fisher, Secretary; Mrs. H, Gusul, Treasurer, and Mrs, G, Daniels Second Vice-President. Mrs, Albert of Geraldton, District Represen tative for District 8, Manitoba and Nofth- western Ontario Provincial Council extended congratulations add reported briefly on the District Scholarships recently presented. She expressed her appreciation to Mrs. Solly for the excellent convenorship of the event. Greetings and congratulations were expresse< | by Mrs. L. Hiller for the Schreiber Ladies Auxiliary, Mrs. A. Morehouse of the Marathon Eadies Auxiliary and Mrs. Olsson bringing greetings from Branch 169 Ontario Command in White River presented a birthday gift on be- half of her Branch to the new Auxilairy. Mrs. Solly most graciously accepted. Concluding the dinner, husbands and guests | joined the ladies for a social evening of dancing and lunch in the Lounge. Before leaving Mr. and Mrs. LeBlanc and family travelled to Fort William on Saturday to attend the marriage of their son Gilles to Miss Jean Kruppa. Mrs. Yolande Boudreau was hostess at a morning coffee party when neighbors on Birch Crescent wished Mrs. LeBlanc well in her new home presenting her with a sweater, playing cards and a souvenir. Her Bridge Club presen ted her with a wallet when they met at the home of Mrs, Olga Adamo. A gift of a cup and saucer was given from the Catholic Woments League and a jewelled Legion pin from the Ladies Auxiliary to Branch 223 of the Cans Legion. Members of St. Martin's Choir gathered at the home of Mrs. Helen Matuszak Sunday evening, giving Mrs. LeBlanc a cardigan with their good wishes, Many family dinners and personal gifts kept the LeBlancs on a busy round prior to their departure. Velma LeBlanc, who has already enrolled at Nepean High School in Ottawa, returned home for the long weekend and te be present at the marriage of her brother. Before she left, Velma was also entertained when her friends gathered at the home of Janice McInnes and presenting her with a set of luggage. Michael LeBlanc was entertained at a& party at the home of George Dashkewytch wh he received a wallet from his friends. Class mates in Grade eight of the Separate School held a party for Alvin LeBlanc when he too received a wallet and good wishes. The Horticultural society are planning their Annual meeting for the latter part of October when the program will be on Chickweed. The date will be announced shortly, The Afternoon Branch of the Ladies Auxiliary will meet on Monday, October 19th, at 1:45 P.M, in the Terrace Bay Conmmity Church. Old and new members are welcome. The ladies plan to pack boxes for the Crippled Civilians in Toronto and Children's Welfare in the Lakehead... Items to be donated may be left at the Church or call Mrs. R. Harris at 3241 for pick up. Earle and Knute Pugh of Tinmins were welcomed back to Terrace Bay last weekend, where they renewed friendships ont'd Py §
