W.S.Govenlock of Winnipeg, secretary-treasurer of the ORT, also attended the occasion, bringing official congratulations. After the meeting the group enjoyed lunch and a social hour at the Schreiber Hotel . CORRECTION It has been brought to our attention that in a recent "News" item covering Schreib er High School Com- mencement mentioned "A $100 award was presented to Cheryl Everitt by Tony Speziale, president of the Lions Club". This should have read:- "A $100 award was presented to Cheryl Everitt by Tony Speziale, president of the Kinsmen Club of Schreiber." Arnold Burns, Tommy Whitton and Lynn and Lori Drake are in Terrace Bay Hospital . Herb Riley is in a Toronto hospital for six weeks after which he will enter a convalescent home for two months. Mr .and Mrs .Frank Thompson of Fort William are spending the weekend with Mr.and Mrs.Gary Drake. Jim Ford returned on Sunday after a holiday in Montreal . Mr.and Mrs.Allan Holmes, Bill Scott, Neil Whent and Bruce Gordon are all home from Winnipeg for the | holiday. Mrs .Tommy Whitton is in McKellar Hospital . Mrs .Bel& French of Smith Falls, who has been the guest of her niece, Mrs.Bill Whent, has returned home after visiting the Fummerton families here, at the Lakehead and in White River. Miss Angie Figliomeni is being honored by her friends at a tea in the Guild Hall on October I7th from 8 to 10 p.m. Mr .and Mrs. Jack Ashley, enroute from Toronto to their home in Fort William, visited with Mr.and Mrs. George Burns, (their daughter). Holland Will Honor Liberating Soldiers Ross Hill, CPR signal suner- viser in Schreiber, will be among members of Lincoln Wentworth Regiment (part of 10th Canadian Infantry Bri- gade) making the trip back to Bergen. Op Zoom, a town in Holland which they freed from! the Nazis 20 years ago. _A prized memento of that oc- easion is the letter sent to com- mandiug officer Lt, Col. G. D, Wotherspoon, DSO, from the burgomaster, read as follows: "On beham of myself and the citizens of Bergen Op Zoom we extend to you our most grate- ful thanks for the liberation of our town from German occupa- tion. We deeply regret that cir- cumstances dca not permit us te extend to you and your gal- lant men the hospitality which. I am sure is the sincere wisn of every loyal citizen of this town. but nevertheless we hope that you will accept this small gift of wines and spirits, which was all that was iteft by our oppressors, as a token of our gratitude." During successive years, invi- tations have been extended to the regiment to be guests of the town to celebrate the occa- sion but this year is' the first time enough members are free to. £0. The party of 50 will fly from Canada Oct. 19 to take part in the manv celebrations planned. in their honor, Included will be a commemoration service at the Canadian War cemetery, visits to nearby battlefields, civic re- ceptions and banquets. The group is also invited to be guests of. the town of Crow- borough in England, where the men, while 'posted there, gave the town's children a bountiful Christmas party during the days of strict rationing there. The moose are here, but con- stant rain, snow and cold have plagued hunters, un- like last year when, if anything, it was too hot and dry in the bush.
