BE ESPECIALLY CAREFUL IF CHILDREN ARE IN THE VICINITY WHEN :YOU CUT GRASS. Pictured above is a view of the "Million Dollar Merry-Go-Round which was the G.H.Wood Company exhibit at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toron to. Currency at the exhibit was made. available through the courtesy of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Com- merce. Four youngsters from Quebec and Ontario Rotary Clubs were each given a thousand dollar bill off the Merry-Go-Round which Mr.Wood's "Sanitation for the Nation" company donated to the respective Rotary Club's Crippled Children's Funds. The money, the Rotary Clubs say, will come as a welcome addi- tion to their constant needs for their good work. The purpose of the spectacular display, which at- tracted large crowds, was to stress the fact that preventable sickness costs more than a million dollars a day. The G.H.Wood Company believe that their products can help to reduce this distressing loss of health and production. ' SCHOOL STARTED TODAY It must have been that many children in Terrace Bay were so anxious to get to school that they could not wait until the traffic guards were in position. Last week, through the combined efforts of the Police Department and the school a schedule of times when the school patrol is in position was pub= lished and a request that children wait until such times to leave for school both morning and at noon. Once again the authorities urge that parents see that children stay at home until the patrols are on guard at intersections. 'TRAGIC ACCIDENT IN MARATHON Last week the Marathon Mercury detailed events of a tragic accident in that community when a 2 1/2 year old boy swallowed some pills and succumb ed to the effects. His little eyes had watched a relative take a pill and put them away and, unbeknowsit to hey,he later climbed up to the cupboard and ate the remainder . The city of Windsor is to receive matching grants of $113,459 from Ontario and Federal governments to convert a vacant 10.3 riverfront tract into a pub- lic park as a centennial project.
