COUNCIL QUOTES Amending the previous By-Law to update nomina- tions day met with the full approval of Council last Tuesday afternoon. In order to facilitate the pre- parations for the Municipal Elections in Terrace Bay, By-Law 131 established nominations for Coun-: cil on the second last Monday in November, with elections to be held the first Monday in December. An application from Brian Gamble to sponsor membership in the Canadian Bowling Association would be referred to the Recreation Director. Dis- cussing the details of the Recreation Account for July, it was passed in the amount of $7,876.01. Councillor Cavanaugh furthered his enquiries into the Centennial Project which is still awaiting approval of location. Reeve Heenan informed him also on the timing of road maintenance. Councillor Thompson discussed briefly the present investigations into an amalgamation of the Police and Fire Departments. Feeling it would would im- prove both the welfare and economic problems in- volved, outside help had been sought in looking into it. Reeve Heenan agreed this would mean better police protection and better fire protection for the community. Secretary W.F .Strutt assisted at the regular meeting in the Municipal offices last Tuesday. This work will help us to maintain a high standard of service in sup- plying the expanding electrical needs of our customers.
