AWARDS PRESENTED AT BOWLING WIND-UP AUDIOMETER PRESENTED TO TOWN The Kinsmen Club of Schreiber recent- ly made formal presentation of an Audio- meter to the town, with Reeve F. W. PRINCIPAL REPORTS TO HIGH SCHOOL BOARD The ladies bowling league held their annual wind- Sci a ees te penal morse ae ar up dinner followed by a cabaret with Mrs.J.D Bryson honorary president, and Pat Newton, as honored guests. President Ida Krause was Mistress of Ceremonies. Minutes of regular and special meetings during the year and the financial report were read by Marg. Gerow. These officers, with Bea McBride, recording Secretary, remain in office for this year. A tribute to the ladies (in verse) written by Mr. Newton, was read by Mary Martinsen. Following the meal the trophy for the winning team was presented to Ida Krause, (Capt.) Bessie Scott, Mary Martinsen and Phyllis Greenshields . This trophy, presented by the late W.G.Humphrey, CPR general manager, has been competed for since 1926. The YMCA presented individual trophies to the winners. Low tears (3 tied for this distinction) for the year were B.Kusik, V.McLellan, P.Cook, M.Fummerton; V .O'Keefe, C.Lalonde, C.O' Brien, Y.C ebrario; J.Costall, M.Holmes, G.Mullins and M.Hencher. Winning roll-off team was | .Krause with B.Kusik taking second place. Other prizes given were:- Mrs .Bryson's - hi/single of the year to J.Tremblay - hi/triple, J.Costall - low score M.Hencher. Low score, roll-offs - Y. Cebrario, Hi/Score - D.Winters, Mystery Prize - N.Gray. Hi/singles - monthly - October, J. Tremblay, December B.McBride, F ebruary, V. O'Keefe, April Ida Krause and May = B.McBride. Joan Costall was a big winner with hi/monthly for November, January, March and a i es a) Principal O.B. Fasan reported, at the meeting of the High School Board on June 4th, that, in the CATO tests, Schreiber school had come in the third quitile in mathematics: that an excellent showing had been made by the school Cadet Corps when reviewed by Capt. Hutton and that the school Drama Club presentation of two one-act plays, directed by Miss Quinlan and Mr. Finnbogason, had been very successful . The Board are sending Anna Fummerton and Don Pellagrino to the Couchiching Camp for a course in athletic leadership. A discussion was held on the landscaping of the school grounds planned for this summer . FORMER RESIDENT ON FINANCIAL TIMES STAFF Rober t (Bob) Stewart, formerly of the Montreal Office of the Financial Times of Canada, has been appointed to the paper's Ottawa News Bureau. Mr. Stewart, with ten years experience in gen- eral and financial reporting, joins Mr. Warren Baldwin in the Ottawa Office. Bob (to everyone in Schreiber) is the only one from here to enter the field of journalism. He knew early in high school that this was what he wanted. One year he got out the Owl's Hoot, (the school paper) almost single handed--writing the editorial column, book reviews and sports. After leaving school here Bob found work on a Cornwall paper, later joining the Ottawa Journal . He spent a year in the British Isles, on (Continued)
