THE AUXILIARY DONATE TO RESTORATION FUND A donation of $100 was made to the Church resto- ration fund by the Women's Auxiliary of St.John's Anglican Church at their regular meeting on June 3, with Mrs. A.E.Rigelsford presiding. Mother and Daughter banquet on June 17 and for the Ladies Bowling League banquet. Menus for both dinners were planned. It was decided to ask the Busy Bees group to take charge of the Fa ther's Day tea on June 20. A lengthy correspondence was read from Mrs. Birch, Marathon, deanery secretary of the W.A., regarding setting up a library. The devotional period was taken by Mrs. W.G. Furlonger, minutes and correspondence read by Mrs. Cyril Sparkes and the treasurer's report given by Mrs. R.Gray. Following the meeting a festive lunch was served by Mrs.Gladys Madigan since this is the last meet- ing before summer recess. CATHOLIC GIRLS SEE HAIR DRESSING EXHIBIT Anna Fummerton presided for the regular meeting of the Catholic Girls' Club on Sunday afternoon with Father Cano giving the opening prayer. Roll call was taken by Linda Sisson of 63 members with five more welcomed--Anne Marie McGrath, Donna and Linda Keating, Rosemary McParland and Cathie McLellan. Both Father Cano and Mrs.H.Shack (director) praised the club for the splendid contribution made at the recent Catholic Women's League convention when a choir of thirty-four voices sang, with Anna Spadoni as pianist and Rev.Sister Irene directing. The president also thanked the girls for attending the many choir practices required=-for the living Rosary performed in May-=and for the success of the Daffodil tea on May 30. Marion Prescott, Spiritual Convenor, gave her last report before resigning, asking the members to attend Mass on week days throughout the summer and, in particular, the one attended by the mem- bers in a body on the first Saturday of each month. Plans were completed for the annual Mother and Daughter Banquet on June I7th. The door prize was won by Linda Power. After the meeting a demonstration of hair dressing was given by Tony Commisso, operator of the Schreib er Beauty Salon. Tony used Yvonne Huard and Barbara Stefurak to show how to shampoo prop- erly, various ways of setting the hair and how different brush-outs could form different arrange- ments. He also stressed the importance of cleanli- ness and simplicity as the most attractive features for young girls' hair styles, and answered the many questions asked. At their last exercises before examinations the students of the high school presented gifts to Miss Pat Quinlan, Don White and D.D'Amours, who are leaving the staff this year. REGULAR MEETING HELD BY REBEKAH LODGE Mrs. Jessie McCanna, V.G., presided as N.G. at the regular meeting of Ruby Rebekah Lodge in the ~ absence of Mrs.O.Wright. Mrs.Mildred Smith, PNG was Vice-grand. The 1.0.0.F. #402 wrote inviting Ruby Lodge to join in a Church parade on June 7th to St.Andrews United Church, at Il a.m. to mark the 145th found- ing of Oddfellowism.
