TREE PLANTING (Dept. Lands & Forests) Spring tree planting projects are currently being conducted by the Department on three different areas in the Geraldton District. A total of 1,200,000 trees is involved in thus undertaking, and approxima- tely 100 planters are employed to assist in the com- pletion of the work. An additional 655,000 trees are being planted by Kimberly-Clark Pulp and Paper Company Limited under the terms of a regeneration agreement made between that Company and the Department. Shortly after the completion of the work described above, summer planting of 100,000 trees will be carried out by Junior Rangers who will be arriving in the District at the end of June. At the same time, some of the Department's permanent staff will already be engaged in planning similar programmes for the 1965/66 season. TWO NEW MOTELS IN DISTRICT The Sunset Motel, owned by the Speziale Bros. of Schreiber and situated on Highway #17 near the O.P.P. headquarters, although not completely finished, has opened its doors to guests. A motel is also being erected on the north side of the Highway near Jackfish Lake. The usual flurry of spring construction in Terrace Bay includes one new home, several garages and extensions to existing premises.
