* . : _ i 'Ladies Club for the past season. rpreciation to her executive - Betty Bouchard, Past DEATH TAKES POPULAR RESIDENT Terrace Bay and district were saddened Saturday everiing at the sudden passing of Alexander Whyte Rennie Sinkins in his 61st year. ' Born May 16, 1903 in Aberdeen, Scotland, he ~ came to Canada in 1913 with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. W.J. Sinkins, settling in Cobalt, Ontario. Married to the former Agnes Gall McWilliam on January 31, 1924, Mr. Sinkins worked in Toronto before going to the Red Lake district in 1937 where he worked in the McKenzie Island Gold Mines and Cochenour Willans Gold Mines as a hofstman. In 1951 he moved to Terrace Bay working for Kimberly- Clark Corporation first as a guard before transferring to the warehouse. Mr. Sinkins is survived by his wife, son Alexander James of Kenora and daughter Betty, Mrs. Don Ander son of Dryden and five grandchildren, two brothers William of Toronto and Jack in Vancouver and a sister Jessie, Mrs. Max Flockhart of Rexdale. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock in the Terrace Bay Community Church. As a Past Master of the Terrace Bay Masonic Lodge and Worthy Patron of the Order of Eastern Star, Silver Birch Chapter No. 264, services will be con- ducted Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock. 4 CURLING CLUB BANQUET Concluding another successful Curling season, President Art Reynolds welcomed the curlers and their guests Saturday evening to the annual Wind-up and Dance in the Moose Hall of the Terrace Bay Men's and Ladies' Curling Clubs. After Grace, pronounced by Rev. T.G. Husser, members and guests were seated for a turkey dinner and, as Master of Ceremonies, the President introduced head table guests and his past year's executive: Ist Vice President, L. Duquette, 2nd Vice Pres. D.Kenney, Sec. D. Whitley, Treas. G. Dodge, Directors L.Crockford,S.Crawford, B. Hayes, H.Hamilton and J.Butler and Trustees D. Knight and H.Bouchard. 'On behalf of Laskins, their trophy was presented by Mrs. Isabel Ferrier to the Wellings rink, President of the Men's Northwestern Curling Assoc- iation, Mr. Doug Skinner of Marathon, made the presentation of awards to the ladies representing Zone four, Ida Romanuk, Aggie Sinkins, Evelyn Partington and Dene Clancy. Mr. Skinner remarked on his pleasure at seeing the "Silver D" coming to Terrace He further offered his own congratulations to the Terrace Bay rink skipped by Lou Duquette who advanced to within one game of the MacDonald Brier. Councillor Ted Brown, on behalf of the Township, presented the L. Duquette rink with Town crests and Council's congratulations. Lou along with Len Crock for, Danny Kenney and Ed Belliveau went out to take the Men's N'Western. Lou and his rink were further presented with the British Consul Trophy, emblematic lof Northwestern Championship by Lorne Black and the North Shore Trophy was presented by Al Chisholm to Lou on behalf of Mr. A. Barbini. President A Reynolds called upon Jack Caccamo to present the new Caccamo Trophy to Club Champions, irst year skip Dan Kenney, with his brothers Joe and Ed and Lyle Nicol. Runner-up was the Scotty Ham- ilton rink with John Benko, Don Tees and Ralph Cole. Winners of Division "A" curling L.Crockford, R. Weaver, M.Papineau and H.Hermes received the Curling Trophy from Norm Berrington - runner-up D. Kenney with Joe and Ed Kenney and Lyle Nicol. "B" Division winners were recipients of the Hiram Walker Trophy and Syd Duthie presented it to R.Os- tling with J.Slabodian,D.Hencher and K.Woods. Their runner-up was the C .Sitch rink with A.Gerow, H.Middleton and W. Randa. In "C" Division the Northern Builders Sales Trophy was presented by M. Thierry to J.Teniuk with C. Woods, A.Trudeau and D.Teniuk. Runner-up was T. Olsen with G.Coons, N.Hubelit and J. Terpstra. Mr. John Ferrier, Mill Manager, in awarding the Longlac Trophy felt over the years it had become pretty well filled with names, and he hoped by next year to present another trophy - the Kimberly-Clark Trophy. Winners this year with Ken Johnson with Elaine Zwir, Ben Hayes and Joyce Rousseau and run- ner-up was Jack Wellings , Julie Stachiw, Doug and Marg Knight. Consolation prizes went to Thor Olsen with Jean Cornell, Harry and Stella Gusul . In the Commercial League, Jim Beddard with D. hitley,A.Fraser and A.Chadney, took the Soughton ewelers Trophy presented by Fred Soughton. Runner- p was Doug.
